Levy 2021
Our school board unanimously voted to authorize a special election on November 2 to renew our 2011 operating levy. In addition, a second question will be added for funding classroom technology and curriculum.
Question 1: No-tax increase renewal
Question 1 is a no-tax increase renewal of an existing operating levy passed in 2011. It maintains funding that is already in place.
Question 2: $3 million levy to support classroom technology and curriculum
The technology and curriculum capital projects levy will fulfill classroom needs such as:
Digital curriculum and classroom tools
Replacement cycle for more than 10,000 district devices purchased during the pandemic
Technology staff
Technology infrastructure
If approved, Question 2 will cost the average homeowner about $5.75/month (for a $250,000 home).
You may be asking, “didn’t we just pass a referendum?” The answer is, yes. In May 2019, our residents graciously approved a bond referendum. Bond referendum dollars are dedicated solely to construction projects, while levies cover operational costs. Simply stated: Bonds are for buildings, and levies are for learning.
There are many ways residents can learn more about the request in order to make an informed vote.
