Clubs and Classrooms
- Art Show: Mrs. Dallow's digital photography students have submitted works to the The 2024 Lower Hudson Region Media Arts Show. Here is a sampling of what will be included in the online exhibit coming in May! See pics here!
- Math Club: This past weekend, seniors Theodore Kusbiantoro and Shuya Watanabe, and junior Terence Du competed as a team in the MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge, an applied math competition. This contest requires students use their knowledge and skills in mathematics to come up with practical solutions to real-world problems. Winners share $100,000 in prizes! Our Rye Neck team was one of 643 teams across the United States and the U.K. attempting to solve this year's problem: combatting homelessness and housing shortages in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Seattle, Washington. Judging is currently underway; finalists to be announced at a later date! More info can be found here!
- For the Environment: Student Environmental Council club is hosting a T shirt drive. Click here to view the flyer!
- #Teachers are Learners: Rye Neck staff K-12 gathered on Friday, March 8th as learners to continue work on the strategic plan! Coordinated by Corinne Ryan, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, and facilitated by the goal team co-chairs, teachers dug in to the language of the goals. They also generated ideas about the impacts these goals will have on the daily work of teachers and students. See pics here.
Congratulations!
Education in the Age of Distraction
On Tuesday, March 5th, Max Stossel spoke to all high school students about the strengths and pitfalls of social media. He encouraged all students to take a breath before they swipe! See the One Second app and other follow up resources below.
Sold Out Performances: Beauty and the Beast!
The entire cast and crew--and Ms. Feinman and Ms. Hudak--enjoyed STANDING OVATIONS at every performance last weekend! Many thanks to our entire community for coming out and supporting our students. The annual musical is an undertaking that stresses all aspects of the creative process; students and staff build the performance from the ground up--literally! Students are integral to the design, building and painting of sets, costuming and makeup, lighting and sound design, singing, dancing and acting! See pics here!
