The Wentzville School District Board of Education held a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021. It was live-streamed via the District YouTube channel and can be viewed by visiting the WSD on YouTube. The agenda and available supporting documents can be viewed online under Public Access to BoardDocs.
NEW HIRES
The Board approved the hiring of Megan Abramczyk, Ed.S., as an assistant principal of Stone Creek Elementary, effective July 1, 2022.
Mrs. Abramczyk has worked in education since 2012. Most recently, she worked as an administrative intern for the Francis Howell School District (FHSD). Prior to that, she served as a summer school principal at FHSD and WSD. She has also taught in the WSD and Warren County School District.
The Board approved the hiring of Andrew Elmendorf, Ed.S., as an assistant principal of North Point High School, effective July 1, 2022.
Mr. Elmendorf started his education career in the City of St. Charles School District doing ISS before moving to the FHSD, where he taught PE and special education for two years. From there, Mr. Elmendorf has been teaching in the Troy R-3 School District for the past 10 years. He was the head baseball coach and taught PE/Health for eight years and has been in his current role as assistant principal for the past two years.
The Board approved the hiring of Amanda Mack as an assistant principal of South Middle School, effective July 1, 2022.
Mrs. Mack has worked in the WSD for 16 years. Most recently, she has worked in the District as the secondary math instructional coach. Prior to that, she taught at South Middle School for 14 years. She also currently serves on the Math Curriculum Development Committee for middle and high school math.
The Board approved the hiring of Daniel (Danny) Ott as an assistant principal of North Point Middle School and the Virtual Learning Academy, effective July 1, 2022.
Mr. Ott is in his eighth year teaching eighth grade at South Middle School. He has taught science for seven years and social studies for one.
The Board approved the hiring of Ashlee Pike, Ed.S., as an assistant principal of Wentzville Middle School, effective July 1, 2022.
Mrs. Pike comes to the WSD from the Fort Zumwalt School District (FZSD), where she served as an administrative intern for the past year and a half. Previously, she has worked as an instructional coach for the FZSD. Before that, she taught at Orchard Farm School District for nine years. Mrs. Pike was Teacher of the Year at Discovery Elementary for the 2016-2017 school year. She has also held roles such as Parent and School Community Action Team Leader, Building Technology Leader, Building Union Representative, Leader in Me Coordinator, and Shared Leadership Action Team Leader.
STAFF Attendance Incentive
To thank our dedicated employees while also helping ease challenges from staffing shortages, the Board of Education approved the use of ESSER III Funds to support our staff during this time. Staff will have an opportunity to earn up to $700 in attendance incentives starting Nov. 29, 2021.
The Board also voted to approve a day off/Mental Health Day for staff in February. We will continue to explore a date and update you as soon as a decision is made.

REFUNDING BONDS
The Board authorized the issuance, sale and delivery of $21,175,000 of General Obligation Refunding Bonds based on bids received from nine firms. These bonds will replace existing callable bonds at a lower rate which will secure $3,010,822 in total cash flow savings for the District. This transaction will also reduce the maturity of the bonds by one full year.
2022 Missouri Superintendent of the Year
The Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) announced the selection of Dr. Curtis Cain, Superintendent of the WSD, as the 2022 Missouri Superintendent of the Year. He was honored during the MSBA/MASA Annual Fall Conference on Nov. 6 and recognized at last night's Board meeting.

NPHS CONSTRUCTION KEYSTONE AWARD
The WSD was named as a finalist for a 2021 Construction Keystone Award in the $50 million or more category for the work done building North Point High School. Wright Construction presented the Keystone Finalist award, given by Associated General Contractors (AGC), to Dr. Cain and the Board of Education. According to AGC, innovative, resourceful, and results-oriented are just a few ways to describe the contractors executing the construction projects selected as finalists.
HEALTH PROGRAM EVALUATION
Laura Parn, executive director of Student Services, and Laurie Castiaux, director of Health Services, provided the Board an update on the District's health program. The Board looked at a variety of successes the Health Program has had over the past year.
CSIP ACTION STEPS
Dr. Cain, WSD superintendent, presented an update to the Board on the status of the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP).
