Spiritual Adoption Program
21 Weeks of Development
Fingerprints
Rejoice, for our Lord is risen! What a joyous time to cherish the splendor and joy of the Resurrection in these weeks of the Easter season.
By 17 weeks of pregnancy, your spiritual adopted baby's circulatory system is fully developed and the skeleton, which has been mostly cartilage, begins to solidify and harden. The baby also has developed its own, unique fingerprints. How amazing and wonderful it is that all of us, as creatures of one Lord and Father, each have our own fingerprints and are so unique in this way!
Between 18 and 20 weeks of pregnancy, the mother will begin to feel the movements of the baby in her womb. A mid-pregnancy ultrasound is often done during this time, and the mother may be able to see the baby kick, roll, or suck his thumb.
At 20 weeks, the five senses -- taste, smell, hearing, seeing and touch -- are now being developed in their specialized areas in the baby's brain. At 21 weeks, the eyelids have finished forming, and the baby is seven inches long and weighs almost 11 ounces -- about the size of a large banana.
Let us continue to pray for our adopted children and pray for their mothers. Let us pray that the movement of their son or daughter in their womb may be a beautiful and gentle reminder of the life growing inside of them.
May our spiritually adopted children, by the grace of God, be protected from all evil and harm. May we continue in our prayer with perseverance and strength.
Have a blessed Sunday!
