Montgomery Bus Boycott
Purpose
Sparked by the arrest of Rosa Parks, an African American woman who refused to give her seat up to a white man. We are challenging racial segregation and to animate the struggle for civil rights. We want equal freedoms and liberties. We want it acknowledged that racial segregation is unconstitutional.
Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. is an American clergyman and activist in the African American civil rights movement. He is determined to secure progress on civil rights and human rights in the United States. He is one of the leaders of the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks, an African American woman was arrested on December 1, 1955 for refusing to give up her bus seat in the "colored section" to a white man. Parks says she was tired of moving for the whites. She was convicted of civil disobedience. She has always been active in the civil rights movement.
