Reopening update
An e-newsletter from Mounds View Public Schools
July 17, 2020
Dear parents,
As you know, the state is currently contemplating how to safely reopen schools for the 2020-21 school year. In preparation for the state’s decision, all schools districts have been required to prepare plans that address three possible scenarios:
- A full return of students in all schools for in-person learning.
- A partial return of students in some schools with a hybrid approach of distance learning and in-person learning.
- No immediate return of any students and a continuation of distance learning.
At this time we do not know which scenario will be chosen by the state. The Minnesota Department of Education has said that school districts should expect to receive specific guidance no later than the week of July 27.
As part of our district’s planning, multiple subgroups have been formed to consider the instructional, operational and student/staff supports that will be needed in each of these three specific reopening scenarios. Our planning continued this week when dozens of staff members engaged in a three-day reopening summit. The results of this work will be shared with you next week, along with survey results received from parents, staff and students.
Thank you for your patience, flexibility and understanding as we continue this important work in a manner that’s as thoughtful and timely as possible.
