Empty Bowls, Jr. began in 2013 as a way to directly support local in-school food pantries and The Arts Council programs. South Knoll fourth graders along with students from more than 25 Brazos Valley schools have created hundreds of handmade, artistic bowls to donate for this event with the purpose of “kids helping kids.” With your help, struggling families can afford to feed their loved ones.
At Empty Bowls, Jr. you can help end hunger, enjoy a variety of entertainment, and view handmade, artist bowls created by Brazos Valley students and teachers. For every $10 donation, receive a bowl and a cup of delicious soup provided by our amazing restaurant sponsors! All proceeds from this event will benefit local in-school pantries and Art Council Children Programs.

Notes From The Nurse
The last thing a school nurse wants to do is send people home. We want them to learn, but also, we want to be mindful of their health and others around them. There are things we can do to try to prevent getting whatever sickness going on around us. It is very easy to get sick while at school, because this is where kids are still learning preventative measures like washing hands, avoiding close contact with other students, sharing food/drinks, etc. Not to mention, building immunity for later in life.
Reasons to send a student home:
1. Fever at 100.0 or greater
2. Vomiting more than once in separate time frames. (ex: in classroom & again in clinic 20mins later)
3. Diarrhea
4. Rash covering a large surface in the body (not cleared by doctor)
5. Eye infection
6. Other; student’s repeated visit for same complaint or complaint of pain that cannot be controlled without medication.
Follow the tips below to help you and your child stay healthy!
PTO News
PTO is getting things ramped up for the Tiger Family Night in April. This fun evening is filled with student performances, fun booths for kids, and a silent auction. Any items you would like to donate to the silent auction would be greatly appreciated. You can either drop off items at the front office or email the PTO at southknollelementarypto@gmail.com and they would be glad to pick anything up!
Chrissy's Closet is a FREE store for CSISD students, staff & their families to obtain new/gently used clothes, shoes, underwear, socks, coats, and personal hygiene items. Our goal is to help students and their families to feel positively about themselves, CSISD and attending school by providing access to items needed to arrive at school clean, warm, and ready to learn.
There is no application or registration process required. Families with one or more CSISD students or any CSISD employee may visit the clothing closet once per month. Five items per student/employee per month will be allowed. Just show up and shop!
Chrissy's Closet is located in the Barbara Bush Parent Center at 1200 George Bush Ave., College Station, TX 77840. There is parking in front of the building and behind it off of Timber Dr.
Chrissy's Closet will be open each Monday from 4-6 PM (Except on school holidays and summer break) and any other publicized special dates.
The emails and texts you are receiving concerning attendance are auto-generated and sent out by the district. The South Knoll staff does not send these out. However, if you have questions about your child's attendance please call the front office to speak with our attendance clerk.
