Welcome back!
Our 6th graders are invited to get to know the school and their fellow classmates through WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) orientation and ongoing actives throughout the school year. This program is specifically designed to provide student mentorship and help build a sense of belonging and connectedness. WEB's goal is to provide a structure in which students make real connections with each other. Through this program students learn that people at school care about them and their success.
Our 7th and 8th grades have the opportunity to become college and career ready by participating in our Gear Up Program, in partnership with CSULB. This program seeks to help prepare students along their academic journey to have the knowledge and tools to enter into college after high school. The Gear Up team will be hosting Lego Robotics activities, tutoring, as well as field trips and other fun activities during snack and lunch. Please stop by the College and Career Center in room 114 to check it out.
Thursday 8/11 is the first day of school.
- We strongly encourage students to take a Covid test on Wed. 8/10 before school starts; if test is positive, students stay home. It is not necessary to bring the test strip to school. If you did not get a Covid test kit at school when picking up the iPad, you may pick one up from the Benton office.
- School starts at 8:35am, and the gates open at 8:05. This is a minimum day, and school is out at 1:15pm.
- Please note, current county guidance states that masks are not required while on campus, but are strongly encouraged.
- Class schedules will be distributed to students in their 1st period class. We will post all 1st period classes starting at 7:30am on August 11th. Please be aware that during the first few weeks of school, schedules may change as we balance classes, add new students, check out others who have moved, etc.
- Although students can pack a lunch or snack, all NLMUSD students will receive free lunch, and free breakfast or snack.

A word about cell phones...
A few years ago, Los Alisos adopted a no-phone use policy at school. This was done in an effort to encourage students to interact with each other in a positive, personal way, and to reduce conflicts which can develop over social media and affect students at school. The ban on phones has been successful in reducing conflicts at school and most students respect this rule. If your child chooses to bring a phone to school, please remind them that the phone should remain OFF and IN THEIR BACKPACK all day long. This is especially true in the locker rooms. For the safety and privacy of all students, if phones are out at anytime during the day they will be confiscated and held for parent pick up in the office. We will be going over this information with your students at our expectations assembly at the start of the year. Should students need to call or text parents, they may come to the school office to do so.
