SMILE! PICTURE DAY IS OCTOBER 26th
Vocabulary Rocks!
Our Wordly Wise vocabulary work is a curriculum piece that we will use to support development of independence and planning skills this year. The expectation is that students will do the bulk of preparation for their quizzes so they start to get comfortable with preparing for tests and quizzes the way they will see them in middle school. It would be most helpful if you and your child discuss what they think the best way to learn their new words would be and then set up the tools they will need to work on this. This is also an excellent space for parents to review vocabulary exercises with their student.
I sent home all of the lists of words for Grade 5 Wordly Wise today, you may want to keep it for future reference. Students have their vocabulary books to bring home and work on Lesson 1 at their own pace.
A few ideas for preparing for vocabulary quizzes:
- Flashcards
- Illustrations
- Charades
- Word lists
- Synonyms and Antonyms
- Use in sentences
- Quiz them
