Writer's Workshop
We finished writing our non fiction papers this week. We used the website Pebble Go to do research and then wrote about what we learned. Some of us wrote about famous authors, some of us wrote about dinosaurs, some of us wrote about animals. We did some amazing research and the kids had a great time doing this!
Doing a little research!
Math
We have gone back to making numbers 11-20. We are working on becoming familiar with organizing numbers so they are easy to recognize. Using a ten frame, if the ten frame is full, we know we can start our counting with 10 and count on instead of starting at the beginning each time. For example if the number is 15 we see the ten frame is full so we can start at 10 count on 11, 12, 13 ,14 15. then in turn we know that 10+5= 15.
Reading
I am attaching our current sight word list as well as the fist grade lists for those kiddos who are ready to move on and work on first grade words. It is our hope Kindergartens leave us reading list 1 (first 25 words) AND list 2 (next 75 words) fluently ( not sounding them out knowing them quickly)!
NWEA
In your DOG book, your child's print out of his/her NWEA scores. It shows the first time we did the test and the second time (right before spring break) in blue. It shows your's child's growth and the letter explains more about the test. If you have any questions about NWEA you may call or email our counselor, Mr. Wideman.
Are you returning?
In your DOG book you will find a orange paper asking if your child will be returning to Prairie Point next year. This is helpful information to predict class sizes for next year. Please fill it out and return as soon as possible! Thank you!
Report Cards
You child's 3rd Quarter report card is available on Infinite Campus. There is a paper in your DOG book to remind you how to view your child's report card. Thank you for taking the time to read these!
All School Picnic!
On Friday April 27, come join your kiddo for a famous Mr. N grilled hot dog! Please use the paper in your child's DOG book to RSVP so he knows how many hot dogs to grill! Hope to see you there!
Yearbooks
Yearbooks are still on sale. We do a yearbook signing day on the last day of school with our yearbooks. If you would like to purchase one, there is a purple note in your DOG book reminding you how much they cost and how to order. I have a list of people who have already ordered yearbooks. If you are not sure if you have or not, please email and I can let you know!
