WY Students Participate in York County Middle School Honors Band Festival
Congratulations to the Middle School band students, along with Ms. Laurie Kumontis our Middle School Band Director, who were selected to represent our District at the York County Middle School Honors Band Festival on Saturday hosted at Dover Middle School. Our musicians joined others from various York County schools and performed an awesome concert!
WY Students Participate in Leader In Me Community Learning Day
On March 13, Mr. Mark Hoffman, Learning Support Teacher, and four of the 9th grade students at the High School attended a Leader in Me Community Learning Day hosted by Spring Grove High School. Students, teachers, and administrators from Waynesboro, Camp Hill, Elizabethtown, and Punxsutawney high schools also attended. Students enjoyed the opportunity to share ideas and brainstorm future Leader in Me programming. Our participating students were: Samina Quayyum, Audriana Reinoso, Angelina Pagan-Romero, and Matthew Miller.
Friendship Party Offers Many Learning Experiences
Students in Ms. Kelsey Sersen and Mrs. Courtney Munyon’s autistic support classrooms at Lincolnway Elementary celebrated spring with an egg hunt and friendship party! Students had so much fun while working on a variety of skills - counting, sorting, fine motor, gross motor, and turn taking just to name a few!
Under, Over, Between, Inside, Beside, Above, Behind & More!
Students in Mrs. Kelly McGladrie's ELA classes at Trimmer Elementary participated in a preposition egg hunt. First, the students gained knowledge about prepositions in class and then they applied that knowledge to find the hidden eggs. The eggs were found under, below, on, across, between, and in different locations. They had an "egg"cellent time!
WYAMS Dodgeball Tournament
On March 22, approximately 50 students at the Middle School had the opportunity to participate in an afterschool fundraising dodgeball tournament.
Students paid $5 each to participate on co-ed teams consisting of 10 players per team. The money raised will help fund the End-of-the-Year Leader in Me Celebration.
The event was organized by Student Lighthouse Team members and Lighthouse Action Team teachers. Prizes were awarded to The Top Team, The Most Spirited Team, and The Best Sportsmanship Team.
