What's Happening at Valley?
Construction of the New Valley Elementary School
We are expecting to open the new Valley Elementary School for school year 25-26. Soon we will begin to see some evidence that this is happening! It is possible that in early April we will break ground. We will let you know when we have more information to share.
Did you know that the FCPS website has a landing page for construction projects? This part of the site will be updated with Valley construction progress once the project has started. In the meantime, you can bookmark this page for easy reference later.

Mark Your Calendar - Fine Arts Night
Valley's Fine Arts Night is Wednesday, March 20th from 5:00-6:30 p.m.
(Snow date is Thursday, March 21st)
Students can see their art displayed at the Art Fair, visit the Book Fair, enjoy story time, create an instrument, play DrumFit, teach family members the folk dances we've learned in music class.
The PTA will be selling pizza, snacks, & swag.

Play Tickets
Valley students will be performing in, "The Wizard of Oz" on March 15th at 7:00 PM and March 16th at 4:00 PM at Brunswick High School Auditorium. If you would like to join us, tickets can be purchase ahead of time using this form.

FCPS Celebrates a Few Valley Vikings
Emma Bailey, was nominated for an FCPS Impact Award. Linked here is a video of the surprise visit.
Daphne Hobbs was recognized as Valley's MLK Award recipient.
Mrs. Blood received her National Board Certification last. She shared with me that most people have to complete the process twice but not our Mrs. Blood! She soared through.
Mrs. Philemon applied for and was chosen to be an FCPS Vanguard teacher. If you know Mrs. Philemon you know that she is always looking for ways to grow and improve her practice AND she was awarded a Guiding Star Award for making outstanding contributions to our school system.
Mrs. Chevalier was nominated and received the Teacher Accomplishment in Gifted and Talented Education award on February 27th.
AND
Ashley Philemon was nominated as Valley Elementary's Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Philemon is still advancing through the process. At this time, she is part of a small group of teachers that have advanced to the quarterfinalist stage! Join us in wishing her well in this process.
We are so proud of our students and staff and happy to celebrate them!
Learn at Home Days
Although it looks a lot like Spring, we could still have a snow day! A future snow day could be a Learn at Home day. Please follow the link below for all information regarding Learn at Home days at Valley.

Through School Cash Online, with a few clicks, you can pay for your child’s yearbook, field trips, and so much more from your own home. All you have to do is register an account, attach your children, and in no time you will be able to make payments online. Through School Cash Online, FCPS is able to accept many different payment forms.

Volunteer Training
Parents, Guardians or Community Members must complete volunteer training before volunteering in any school in Frederick County. This training must be completed annually which means that if you were approved last year, you must stilll complete the training this year in order to volunteer in our school. This training must also be completed if you plan to chaperone on a field trip. Please use the link below to access this training if you would like to volunteer in our school.
Volunteer Training and Registration
Completion of this training is processed first at the county level. It is important to complete this training several days prior to the volunteer opportunity. We are not able to expedite this process.
