MCES Weekly Top Five For Parents
UPDATES AND REMINDERS FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 23
A Message from Administration
Greetings Montclair Families,
As we continue to navigate our Remote Learning model, the administration team would like to inform you of important details within our school community and inform you of some updates coming from Cumberland County Schools.
First, the deadline for parents and caregivers of students to present the required immunization record and health assessment transmittal form for their child has been extended until December 30. For more information, visit the district's Website.
Next, on Monday, November 30, Montclair Elementary School will host a Plan B Pathway to a Safe and Healthy Return Family Engagement Session at 6:00 PM. During this live session, parents will have the opportunity to ask about Plan B building re-entry for students and learn about Montclair plans for re-entry, including safety precautions, cohorts, etc. The flyer for that event has been linked in the Top Five list below. On today Tuesday, November 24, all Cohort assignments have been sent out to our families. Please be sure to check your mail for the print copy and check your child's Gmail for their Cohort assignments. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact one of the administrators.
Additionally, tomorrow is the Student Remote Learning Day for all CCS students. During this day, all assignments will be asynchronous. Now new assignments have been giving for this week. We ask our families to work with your students to have all previous assignments completed and turned in on this day. Please also stress to your students the importance of getting their assignments turned in on time. Once the transition to Plan B begins, we do not want any of our students further behind due to the nature of Remote Learning.
Please be patient and understanding during this possible transition from Virtual to Blended Learning. Our school community's number one priority is to ensure all students' safety and all stakeholders involved. If you know of any MCES parents that are not receiving proper updates on our week to week communication, please direct them to our weekly Top Five. All parties involved will need to be vigilant.
Lastly, as a reminder, we know that you would like to help your child out as best as possible, but you must allow your child to work independently when the student is testing. Most of our assessments are not designed to subject your students to pass or fail, but for the teacher to get an accurate reading of where your student's raw ability level is so the teacher can adjust to their instruction accordingly. If you give them the answers, we can not find out what they have or haven't learned. So please allow them to do it themselves.
We are wishing you a Happy Holidays and thank you for your continued partnership as we move forward with the school year.
"None of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful." – Mother Teresa.
