Midnight Sun Elementary
March 2022
A Monthly Communication to Parents from the Principal's Office
Committed Team, Engaged Students, Inspired Community
-where all students learn at highest levels-
Marvelous March is upon us.
Buses are back, parent/teacher conferences were a HUGE success and the weather is a bit more mild. We have only two full weeks before Spring Break and the end of the 3rd Quarter and together we will help our students make great strides. When we return from Spring Break we will launch into preparing for testing mode and gear up for the final quarter. WOW!
It was great to see so many families participating either in-person or via zoom. Your support of our students is how we continue to be successful. Please continue to keep students home when they have flu or COVID symptoms and we will make this the best quarter, yet!!
Best regards,
Joanne Van

(PE, Music, Library, and Counseling)
Music: The Music Room is alive with the sounds of 4th grade students playing “Hot Cross Buns” on the recorders. Recorder Karate is happening. Most 4th graders have earned their white belts. Many have earned the yellow and orange belts. The challenge is now on - who will be the first one to earn the black belt? Why learn the recorder? Many reasons. Here are just a few: It helps develop strong lungs and breath control. It teaches us to read music. It helps us develop our listening skills. It can help our self-confidence and self-esteem. It helps develop our musical ear. It helps build teamwork skills. And it helps to develop a lifelong appreciation for music.
Library: After Spring Break keep an eye out for information about our Storybook Peeps Dioramas. Students are eagerly awaiting the return of this long time Midnight Sun tradition.
Counseling: We will finish our last lessons of the Safer and Smarter Kids curriculum in the first few weeks of March. After we get back from spring break we will be learning about having a growth mindset.
