Message From the Principal
Dear Lake Tapps Families,
Report cards went home . Please check your student's backpack. I encourage you to use these reports as an opportunity to help your child set some goals for the coming trimester.
One thing that stunned me as I read them all is the number of students who have a significant number of absences. I'll provide some more information about this in the near future.
We have three more days of school left this year, and the prediction is that they'll be cold and possibly snowy. Please make sure your children come to school prepared for the weather. (If there IS snow, the field will only be accessible to children with boots and appropriate cold weather clothing.)
I may not get another newsletter out next week. Just in case.... see you next year!
(Sorry, first grade humor got the better of me!)
Best,
Paula

Message from our School Nurse!
Dieringer families, respiratory illnesses have been increasing these past few weeks. Flu activity is high in Pierce County and Washington State, as well as Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Additionally, Covid is still with us. Covid testing is recommended for symptoms of illness. Please let your child’s school know if your child tests positive for Covid.
Flu and Covid-19 vaccines are recommended for all individuals aged 6 months and above. Local urgent care centers and hospital emergency rooms are over capacity, and vaccines are one of the primary tools we have to prevent illness and maintain our hospitals’ ability to deliver care.
Here is information for parents about Flu from the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, including where to get free children’s flu shots and immunizations: https://www.tpchd.org/healthy-people/flu/flu-and-children
Take these steps to reduce your chance of getting sick or infecting others:
Stay home if you’re sick.
Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow.
Wash your hands often.
Consider wearing a mask around those most at risk.
