We nurture and inspire every child to dream big.
The Resilience Project - Gratitude!
The first theme we have focused on as a whole school is Gratitude.
3/4P have been working together to write about the small things they are grateful for.
Mr Hilton's message
Good morning, Heaton Public School! I hope you've had a fantastic week.
I would like to congratulate all of our Year 3 and 5 students who diligently persisted with their NAPLAN assessments this week. This is a snapshot in time of their progress, and it helps us identify where to support your students' learning.
The library, position of two days a week, has been filled via merit selection. The successful candidate is Melissa Westley. I would like to welcome Melissa to the school. She will be starting in Term 2.
Thank you to all of our students who have been reminding us of what they are grateful for each day. Gratitude has been the theme of The Resilience Project over the last two weeks. We are grateful that our students have latched onto this project. We will now move into the theme of empathy and showing kindness to others for weeks 9 and 10 before moving into mindfulness in week 11.
Wishing all of our families who celebrated Nowruz a healthy and happy holiday. Thank you for your wonderful presentation on assembly.
To those who celebrate Easter in the upcoming days a lovely four-day break at the end of this week.
Sentral Parent App
Just a reminder to please use the parent app and make sure your notifications are switched on. I've checked into the issue some people were having with notifications, but the company assures me it's not a problem for any other school. If you have any problems, please see the office. All notes and finance will now go through this system, and you can address your absences and permissions during this time.
Please click the document below for support around using the app for accepting activities and for paying for excursions. Sentral Finance Parent FAQs
Life Education
Life Education- Healthy Harold
The Life Education Bus will be visiting Heaton on the 26th, 27th, and 28th of March 2024.
Life Education offers dynamic 60-90 minute interactive lesson conducted by specialised educators. These face-to-face sessions are complemented by a series of post-visit lessons designed to reinforce and extend learning.
Covering the topics of physical health, safety, and social and emotional well-being, the lessons are crafted to be uniquely engaging, memorable, and interactive. We hope the experience will provide your child with an enriching experience that leaves a lasting impact.
For further information, please feel free to visit the Life Education website at https://lifeed.org.au/families/what-happens-during-a-life-education-visit/.
Please opt out if you do not wish for your child to attend. Information about this event was sent to the Sentral Parent Portal.
There is no fee for the program this year, so we look forward to welcoming your child aboard the Life Education Bus for an unforgettable learning journey!
K/1F Amazing Work
The Kindergarten students from K/1F were hard at work learning about the different area of shapes. It is a treat to watch our young learners deepen their understanding of concepts each day.
Easter Walk & Easter Raffle - March 28th - Easter Raffle 2:15pm in school hall
The Easter Walk and Easter Raffle are set for March 28th in the School Hall. Year 6 students are kindly asked to donate an Easter egg or treat to their classroom to create a prize box for the Easter Walk participants. It's 50 cents per turn for kids to join the walk, and each class will take turns participating. Children can have as many turns as they like.
For those willing to contribute to the Easter Raffle organized by the Parent Group, please drop off Easter eggs at the office. The raffle will be drawn at 2.15pm in the School Hall, and the top 10 prizes will be drawn. Raffle tickets are available at the office; kindly enclose the money in an envelope along with the raffle tickets.
Raffle tickets are due back on Tuesday.
Office Information
Please remember that you are able to make small ongoing payments each week so it eases the burden of making a payment all at once.
The school is subsidising as much as possible as we are aware of the impact of cost-of-living pressures.
Stage 3 Aussie Bush Camp - $100 deposit due 29th Match 2024.
Year 6 T-Shirt - $33.50 due 11th April 2024.
Musical Opportunity for Kindergarten and Year 1 students
Please see the flyer below for an exciting musical opportunity for Kindergarten and Year 1 students.
Cross Country
For Cross Country this year, due to the tightening of completion times within the PSSA, we are not holding a school wide cross-country carnival. Instead, running events will be held during allocated school sport time on the last Friday of school. These events will only involve students in years 3-6. The events will consist of students running around Big Field with teacher supervision.
Attendance Matters - 'Here Every Day, Ready On Time'
Heaton Hero Attendance - 'Here Every Day, Ready on Time'.
We have been talking about attendance with all of our students. In Cultural Groups, we have been having 5-day challenges around attendance. Great job to the kids below from the Cultural Group for their amazing attendance of 100% last week. So many other kids across the school are still on 100% attendance. There is a $100 dollar draw at the end of the year for this achievement.
Parent Group
Our first parent group starts this Thursday between 2-3pm. Mrs Hilsen and Ms James have lots planned for the group this term. All welcome.
Ice Blocks
This year our ice block day is Wednesday. Ice blocks are 50c each and help fundraise for end of year activities for all students..
Spare Clothes
If anyone has any spare second hand uniforms that don't fit, the office would love to accept these as spares if you are happy to donate.
Facebook Parent Group
Our parent group has established a parent Facebook page. Please click the link to join if you want to be updated with events or volunteer at school community events as a parent. These include events such as the Mother's Day Stall and Harmony Day.
Canteen
The canteen takes place every Friday. Please have exact money for your child's order if possible.
