DC Coyotes PTA updates:
Due to Spring Break, there will NOT be a general PTA board meeting in March. The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 9th at 7pm. At that meeting we will vote on the open exec board positions for the 24/25 school year. If you are interested in running for an exec board position, please contact Kristin Willett at president.dcpta@gmail.com. PTA members, watch your inbox in March for bios for those running.
Join us at Sonic on Tuesday, March 5th from 5-8 pm for Restaurant Night. 40% of everything DC buys will come back to DC PTA which will benefit DC directly! You will have a chance to be one of 10 lucky winners of a FREE Sonic Blast!! Come cheer on Coach Walters and Deputy Greg as they go head-to- head at a slushy drinking and tot eating contest at 6:00pm.
PTA March Staff Luncheon
The DC Staff Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5. The theme is Comfort Foods. This year we are mixing it up a bit. Every other month we are going to cater the meal through a local restaurant and look for business sponsors to help fund that. This way we are still able to express our appreciation to the DC staff without having parents provide all of the food.
For the month of March, we are including families from all grade levels to give everyone the opportunity to sign up with their favorite dish to support the theme.
Please click on the attached link to sign up to bring something for our staff to enjoy.
This is our teacher's favorite day of the month!

What’s Coming Up?
GIFTED TESTING RESULTS:
We have completed the ‘Gifted Testing’ for the school year! However, if your child missed the window there will be testing administered by the district this summer. Information will be posted on the DVUSD website under ‘Gifted Services’. If your child tested in February, at Diamond Canyon, results will be emailed home by the end of next week from Gifted Services. Please check your SPAM folder, since the results could land there!
Any students that qualify for services will receive a letter, ‘Permission to Place’ by the end of the school year with services beginning during the 2024-2025 school year. Any student that qualifies for Walk Up Math will also need to sign a contract before walking next school year.
GIFTED MODEL AT DIAMOND CANYON
SPARK is the name of DVUSD's content enrichment program. This program is primarily for gifted students, but also applies to high achieving and high potential students. Though each school adapts this model to best meet the needs of its students and community, the SPARK program generally serves grades K-6. SPARK is an ongoing enrichment learning program that addresses the unique needs of gifted, high achieving, and high potential students.
BENEFITS OF THE SPARK PROGRAM
This program provides students with engaging experiences in mathematics, language and communication, writing, social studies, science, technology, and/or the arts through enrichment opportunities. The learning experiences in SPARK require students to think critically, collaborate with others, communicate their ideas, and show creativity. SPARK offers an environment of like minds for the duration of full RTI periods for enrichment to supplement content area classes. SPARK may incorporate projects based learning, STEM activities, group reports, etc.

Volunteer Training Information
A volunteer is someone who donates time in schools or with students on a regular or reoccurring basis, or who serves as a chaperone. If you are attending or volunteering at a class party, or school event ie: Boosterthon, you DO NOT need the volunteer training.
Once you are trained, you are good to volunteer for the remainder of time your students are in DVUSD. Yearly paperwork will need to be updated in the front office each year.
AZ Tax Credits
*Please Note: Arizona law allows Original Individual Income Tax Credit donations made during 2023 or donations made from January 1, 2024 through April 15, 2024 to be claimed on the 2023 Arizona income tax return.
School tax credits are a win-win for students and taxpayers! Making a donation is easy: Donate using the link below, keep your receipt and claim your tax credit when you file! Every dollar reduces your tax liability dollar for dollar. Taxpayers can donate up to $200 for an individual and $400 for a married couple.
Diamond Canyon students are blessed to participate in a few out of state field trips in 2023-2024. This year our 6th grade students are heading to Camp Surf in California for science learning and our Choir is heading to Disneyland to compete in a national competition. Your tax credit donations help make the trip more affordable for all and also help our school offer scholarships for those that need it to attend.
https://az-deervalley.intouchreceipting.com/ Please choose: Diamond Canyon School. If you would like to fund a student scholarship for out of state travel please choose either Choir, Camp Surf or General Tax Credit. We also have athletics, leadership groups, etc. you can donate to as well.
Thank you for donating to Diamond Canyon! We greatly appreciate your support!
