Welcome students and families to the 2021-2022 school year.
Please refer to the weekly BLAST newsletter, that will be sent out every Monday. This newsletter will be filled with important information of the events and happenings throughout the year at FMS. I look forward to meeting and working with all of you. Please know that we encourage parents and students to reach out with questions, comments, and concerns. You can always contact me through the school office or email me at tdaniels@fcusd.org. I believe that through communication and collaboration we can support all our students in reaching their potential. I look forward to working with you all this coming school year. I know it will be a positive year for all.
Sincerely,
Terri Daniels, Ed. D.

***Please note that if you notice an error in your child’s schedule you should visit the counselor table during JagWalk. An error is noticing that a student is missing a class period or has two classes scheduled for the same period. These errors will be corrected immediately.
If you notice your child did not get a requested class, this does not constitute an error. Our classes are impacted at this time and students may not get their first or second choice of electives. We will not fix these issues at JagWalk. If you have concerns about the classes then you are asked to email your child’s counselor. There are no guarantees students will get the classes they requested.
Also, we strive to keep your child’s schedule from being disrupted. However, it is very common that their schedule may change during the first few weeks of school due to numbers and balancing classes. We want to notify everyone that change to the schedule is a possibility within the first month of school.

School Nurse
Welcome back to campus! Just a friendly reminder about student immunization records. In order for students to receive their school schedules at the Jag Walk, there must be an up-to-date/ compliant immunization record on file or a medical exemption entered into CAIR-ME by your child’s pediatrician. Immunization requirements can be found at www.shotsforschool.org.
Health staff will be on-site during the Jag walk to answer any health-related questions. There will be extra medication and medical order forms available at the Jag Walk; however, if you would like them sent to you directly, please email the school nurse, Amanda, aturkbergen@fcusd.org.

Attention All FMS Families,
PARENTS - FOLSOM MIDDLE SCHOOL NEEDS YOU
Are you interested in serving on the Folsom Middle School Site Council? The School Site Council (SSC) is a committee of teachers, parents, and classified staff members who work with the school principal to plan for the needs of the school.
Members develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. The members of the site council are generally elected by their peers. For example, parents elect the parent representatives and teachers elect teachers.
We are in need of 3 new parent committee members this school year. If you are interested, or would like to nominate someone you feel would be a good representative to serve on this committee, please click the link below and fill out the form to nominate yourself or others. The deadline for nominations will be Friday, September 4, 2020. After nominations are received a ballot will go out to parents to elect the 3 new members to add to the council. The site council will meet quarterly to consider the goals of the school and evaluate the school’s progress toward those goals. Consideration of school test scores, attendance, discipline records, parent surveys, and input from students are a few of the measures that are reviewed by the council. Please contemplate serving in this important role at FMS. If you have any questions, you may email Mrs. Daniels or contact the school office. Thank you.
