Welborne Word
December 11, 2023, Issue #16
Dear Families,
It is hard to believe that we are just two weeks away from the winter break. A reminder that the last day of school is December 22nd. The school will be closed from December 25-January 5th. Classes resume on January 8th.
When we return in January, there will be two changes to the Core French team at Welborne. Mme MacKeigan will be leaving the Welborne community to consolidate her teaching time full at Cataraqui Woods Elementary School. We wish Mme MacKeigan all the best!
Mme Adams Leroux will be retiring at the end of December. Mme Adams Leroux has taught Core French for many years at Welborne and in the Kingston area. We would like to thank her for bringing music, culture and art to the core French program at Welborne. We wish you the very best Mme!!
We are currently working through the process of hiring two teachers to take over the classes that Mme MacKeigan and and Mme Adams Leroux currently teach. We will share updates as soon as they are known.
Classes are busy preparing some special things to share with you and each other before the holiday. Artwork is being created and presentation in English and en francais are being practiced.
At this time of year, there are many holidays that are celebrated. Students will be learning about a variety of cultural celebrations that take place both at this time of year and throughout the year. Many celebrations at this time of year include lights and/or candles. For this reason, during the week of December 18-21 (Monday to Thursday evening), student artwork will be displayed on outward facing windows and lit with twinkle lights during the evening. Families are invited to walk around the outside of the school after dark on Monday December 18 to Thursday December 21 and enjoy the beautiful artwork that students have created. The students who have classes that face onto one of the courtyards will display their art on the windows in the library, the staff room, and the front doors.
On Tuesday December 19th and Thursday December 21st at 11:40 am, classes will gather in the gym for a holiday sing-along. Some student clubs and classes will be preforming at each of these gatherings. A complete list of performances for each day are listed below in this newsletter. Families are welcome to attend.
If you have any questions, please email us at welba@limestone.on.ca.
Warm regards,
Ms. Fraser, Mrs. Wellwood, and Ms. Hart
