Superstar Snapshots
April 2024
From the Principal
Superstar Families,
We are almost done with April! Can you believe it?!?
At our March student of the month assembly, we celebrated our students that participated in our American Heart Association fundraiser. We had students that raised money, participated in the online lessons, or had friends and family sign up to learn about heart health. It's a fundraiser that was fun and educational. Thanks to everyone that participated!
As always, I want to share information with you for the upcoming month as well as share reminders.
- If your Superstar is going to eat breakfast, please have them at school by 8:15.
- If you have moved or your phone number has changed, please contact the office with your new information.
- If your Superstar is going to be absent, please contact the school office. Do not use Remind to report a student absence. If you have not communicated the absence with the office, you will receive a phone call.
- If you need to change how your Superstar gets home at the end of the day, please contact the school office. Do not use Remind to communicate the changes.
- The walking routes for after school have not changed. For your safety, please only cross Beech Street where we have crossing guards.
We're so thankful for your partnership with us. We do not take it for granted that our partnership is so important. You, as an expert on your Superstar, help make each day a success.
Stephanie Teel, Principal

Conscious Discipline
Our trait for the month of April is encouragement. When we encourage our children, we are saying that we notice them and believe in them. This act of noticing rewards positive choices that children make and boosts their self confidence. It also helps to sooth children when they are upset and helps them to regain their composure without feeling judged. Additionally, it teaches our children how to encourage others, which creates unity and positivity. It teaches them how to notice helpfulness in themselves and in others. Watch the encouragement game video for a fun and quick way to help build encouragement with your children!

Counselor's Corner
Hello Superstar Families!
During April, we’re helping students make more meaningful friendships by using the skill of Encouragement. Learning how to be encouraging shows students how their actions can help others and increase their sense of connection with their classmates.
As adults we can model encouragement for our students by describing helpful acts that we see them perform. At home you can practice this by using ‘Noticing’ statements such as “I notice you cleaned up your room. Way to go!” or “I saw you hug your sister when she felt sad. That was so caring.” Encouraging children through ‘noticing’ emphasizes the importance of treating others as we wish to be treated and sends the message that “we’re all in this together.”
Wishing you well,
Mr. Thomas, Counselor
