A Message From Dr. Hinson
Many virtual parents have begun to reach out discussing a return to campus for the 4th nine weeks. If you are currently a virtual family but are interested in a return after Spring Break, please reach out to me by email, so we can begin to plan.
The Legislative session is critical to public education. Please be sure to read the information concerning Prosper ISD legislative priorities and help us ensure our voices are heard.
We look forward to a great week ahead!

Arrival & Dismissal Concerns
- Please do not park along the roadway leading to the crosswalks. We are having several families pick up at the three crosswalks and posing a safety concern to our students who actually walk home.
- Please make sure you are moving slowly into our carlines as numerous students walk to school and at times can trip and fall.
- Please do not use your cell phone while driving on campus. It's the law.
- Please use the back car line if the front line is backed up during morning arrival. If you are having to wait to turn into the loop because of traffic, then you should continue on to the back car line.
- We having increasing numbers of students arriving late. School starts at 7:45.
- ALL early dismissals must be completed by 2:15.
Valentine's Day - Bring Your Valentine's on February 9th!

STUBER HOUSES RULE!!
This week's Essential Focus is "Respond immediately to any and all call-backs an adult may give". In our building, we utilize many but our main one is Stuber(adult says): Sparks(students says) and everyone gets quiet to hear the speaker. We will be working on this throughout the building this week. Kindergarten won the Rock Solid Team award for demonstrating last week's Essential of saying yes mam and no mam. They celebrated with music during lunch this past Friday. Monday we will see if there is another winner!

African American History Month
"As a state and nation shaped by the diversity of our citizens, it is vital we recognize and celebrate the different races, nationalities, and backgrounds of the land we love. Having faced slavery, many forms of oppression, deep-rooted adversity, and the life-threatening dangers of demanding equality and change, African Americans are imbued with a unique strength and resilience, and their contributions and achievements are respected and greatly valued in the Lone Star State. Each year, February is designated African American History Month to remember and reflect on the tribulations faced by the African American community while learning from the vibrant history and culture and celebrating its many invaluable contributions." -Texas Education Agency
Although we focus on African American history this month, the history is all of our history and is discussed throughout the year as significant events, discoveries, movements, and more are encountered within the curriculum. Stuber will specifically celebrate by:
Discussing different African American individuals and their accomplishments on announcements
Throughout the year the librarian has pulled diverse books and has on display for students. An additional display has been added to the entrance for this month.
African American History Month has been highlighted in teacher and campus newsletters with resources for families to access during the month
5th grade is researching an African American who was highly influential to society. Their work will be shared with the school.
Grades K-4 are exploring various individuals during Social Studies as well as ELAR. Some completed an “ I have a dream” graphic that is displayed outside of their classrooms. While other wrote essays.
We encourage families to join us this month by exploring the following websites:

Prosper ISD Legislative Priorities as presented by Dr. Ferguson
Prosper ISD is committed to advocating for public education with the Texas Legislature. The 87th Legislative Session will be like none other. It will require school district leaders, community members, and public school supporters to engage in achieving the best outcome for education.
Prosper ISD Legislative Priorities:
· A cornerstone priority of Prosper ISD is local control and flexibility. As a school district, we must respond to the differing needs of students, educators, parents, and the communities we serve.
· Advocate for an adequate and equitable school finance system that raises per-pupil funding to the national average.
· Advocate for local discretion with spending to ensure that the needs of our students are met.
· Oppose any effort to divert local property tax revenues that taxpayers are told will be used to support local public schools to non-public education purposes. (Charter schools receive $1,100 more dollars per student in school funding than public schools and are NOT held to the same expectations by the Texas Education Agency.)
· Advocate for additional funding for the Instructional Facilities Allotment (IFA), Existing Debt Allotment (EDA), and the New Instructional Facilities Allotment (NIFA). Oppose additional funding for charter school facilities until adequate state funding is provided to traditional school districts.
We are an influential community that cares deeply about the education of our students. I encourage you to use your voice by voting and reaching out to our Texas Legislators on behalf of Prosper ISD. Now is the time!
