Why We Play - the Parent's Playbook
Playing sports is about much more than learning the physical skills of the game and winning championships. For students, playing high school sports is about having fun, building lifelong friendships, preparing to take on future challenges, learning how to be a good teammate, and simply enjoying the game. Griffith Fifth Graders Supporting our Troops this Holiday Season.
The fifth graders in Mrs. Fry's and Mrs. Roach’s classes at Griffith Elementary collected items and made cards for our soldiers deployed overseas who are unable to go home for the Christmas holidays. Some of the much-needed items collected included wet wipes, baby powder, toiletries, snacks, condiments, games, and Christmas decorations. They were able to collect enough to pack Boodle Boxes (boodle is army slang for goodies from home) for thirteen Army Soldiers who are deployed in South Korea for the holidays! Washington Community Schools was able to donate over $200 for postage through the staff-funded donation account. Thank you for supporting our troops during the holiday season!
