Phonograph
In 1877 Thomas Edison invented the phonograph. The way it worked is you speak into the horn. While you are speaking into it a needle would etch you words into a copper can. Then it would then speak the same words back out to you.
How the Phonograph came to be
Thomas Edison had the idea to put a diaphragm, telephone, telegraph together and attempt to make a machine that records your voice. He took the stylus from the telegraph and attached it to a diaphragm connected to a telephone. Edison spoke into his new contraption and when he played it back and all it sounded like was some static noise. That is the beginning of the Phonograph
Now and Then
The benefit of having the phonograph being invented is that you can now record and replay things on you electronic device. Not only can you record and listen to music but you can also records peoples voices and messages to share with other people.
