October 2021
Disability History and Awareness Month
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Welcome to October and the beauty of the Fall Season! October is an un”boo”lievable month at Greenbrier Primary! I am really impressed at how our students are following procedures relating to wearing their masks, navigating the “one-way” hallways, using the sanitizing stations properly and really adjusting to the new normal. I applaud and need to recognize that our staff is working extra hard to meet the needs of every student. They base weekly lesson plans on state standards, sustain the expected pacing, and maintain rigor while being creative, patient and positive. Please help me thank those working with your children. We also thank you, the parent, for your efforts at home and the ongoing support you provide. Working together, will make a difference for each Little Panther.

CAFETERIA/LUNCH MONITOR/VOLUNTEERS
To assist with the current COVID pandemic and efforts to cohort our students, we are prepared to open our schools to volunteers. These individuals will be assigned to assist in the cafeteria/designated areas and classrooms during lunch. Parents, grandparents, and legal guardians of enrolled students interested in volunteering at their child’s school must be screened and approved through the Raptor system, complete the CPS Health Screen before entering the school each day, and receive appropriate training.
Community members who are not connected to a school may be considered but will be required to complete the Non-Athletic Volunteer Application (form # 5824) and pay for a fingerprint screening ($25.00) in the Department of Human Resources.
Volunteers will only be permitted to work in specific areas during lunch to keep the volunteer with one designated group/area. In addition, volunteers will not be permitted to sit with or be close to students for extended periods but will move around the cafeteria/classroom and monitor and assist the students while they eat. Lunch monitors/volunteers will be required to wear a face mask at all times.
Once these surveys are completed and reviewed, selected volunteers will be contacted, screened in Raptor, and trained accordingly. Once training is complete, volunteers will be assigned.
