Torrey Hill Intermediate School
March 2024
A Note From The Principal- Mrs. Powell
Torrey Hill Families,
As we enter March, we are excited to participate in many wonderful activities at Torrey Hill. This month we will be celebrating March is Reading month, as well as Commit to Fit. These are great opportunities for our students and staff to immerse themselves into rich literature as well as encourage daily physical fitness.
As a reminder, for the safety of students any end of the day pickup changes should be called into the office no later than 2:00 PM. This helps allow time for the office and teachers to notify students of the changes in a safe and timely manner.
Your Partner In Education,
Mrs. Powell

MARCH IS READING MONTH ACTIVITIES
In the month of March, our students will celebrate March is Reading Month with many fun literacy activities. Our theme this year is "Reading Is A Blast." On March 4th, students will bring home a weekly log to support their reading skills at home. If they return the log to school on Friday signed, they will be able to fill out the ticket at the bottom of the log and use that as an entry ticket during our March is Reading Month assembly. Students have the chance to win bikes, scooters, and many more prizes donated by the Linden Masonic.
Sheriff Swanson Reading Challenge
Torrey Hill is participating in a county wide reading challenge through Sheriff Swanson. We encourage students to log how many pages they read daily using the QR code below.

FREE COVID TESTS AVAILABLE
If you are in need of a Covid test, please reach out to the main office at 810-591-6542. We have free ones available.
Any bus changes must be approved by the principal at least 24 hours in advance. Students are not allowed to take alternative buses home unless their is an emergency situation. Please do not use bus transportation as a means of transporting friends for after school social or extracurricular events. Our buses have capacity limits and we cannot add students to bus routes. We care about the safety of our students and therefore must closely monitor ridership on our school buses.

Recess Dress Reminders
As we approach cooler temperatures. please make sure that your student is wearing a coat everyday to school. Once the snow starts falling, students will need coats, snow pants, boots, hats and mittens for recess. Please make sure all items are labeled. If students do not have boots or snow pants, they have to stay on the sidewalk during recess time. We go out each and every day if it is not raining and the “real-feel” temperature is 8 degrees or higher. If you are in need of any winter snow clothes for your child, reach out to the Torrey Hill office.

Traffic Safety
We realize the morning and afternoon can be busy times in our parking lots at West Shore and Torrey Hill. Please help with traffic concerns by avoiding crossing over the incoming lane (AM) and outgoing lane (PM) at West Shore (Lahring entrance).
Also, if you enter Torrey Hill from Torrey Rd., please remember you can only turn right at the flagpole. Some are turning left where the sign, "No Left Turn", is located. Thank you for your support.
