Welcome
Mr. Carnell Banner, Assistant Principal
Welcome Letter
My name is Carnell A. Banner, the new Assistant Principal at South Hampton K-8. It is my privilege and honor to join South Hampton and the community in which it serve. I am looking forward to an exciting year of Teaching and Learning as well as growing with our teachers and students along with working with our parents and community members.
My main goal is to ensure that every student is provided the highest quality of education possible in a safe and supportive learning environment. Working together as a team with our staff and parents, I am committed to helping each student achievement their very best. Every student is valued and worthy of our best effort.
In order to accomplish this goal, the latest instructional strategies will be implemented in order to help improve our goals set forth for ALL South Hampton students. I will be spending a considerable amount of time discussing and implementing strategic teaching into what we are already doing here at South Hampton. I sincerely believe that by adhering to the basic ideas embedded in strategic teaching and instructional strategies our students will continue to be successful as it relates to obtaining academic achievement.
As an educator I am very passionate about the K-8 school years. Most of my administrative years have been working with students and staff of the middle school age group. This is an important and critical time of transition- moving from the elementary experience and preparing for the bigger challenge of high school. Some experts state that African American males become disinterested in school by third grade so I'm equally passionate about working just as hard for our kindergarten through 5 grade. What happens during these few short years will have a lasting impression on their development and growth.
This year will be busy, exciting, and hopefully very rewarding for each student. We want you to join us in making this the very best experience for our children. Being informed will help.
Life is like a camera......
Focus on what's important,
Capture the good times,
Develop from the negatives,
And if things don't work out,
Take another shot.
Thank you and kind regards,
Carnell A. Banner, M. Eds.
