Principal's Update
End of Quarter 1 Newsletter
Northwestern Families,
We have completed our first nine weeks of school and have made it half-way through the first semester in our new normal! Our work to this point has been challenging but rewarding as our students and staff have adapted and created new pathways to experience success. Now more than ever, it is important for us to focus on finishing this unique portion of our year strong. Students who were unsuccessful in the first nine-week period have an opportunity to participate in “content recovery” by working with their teachers to complete units with the academic coach on gradpoint, or recovering units with individual teachers.
We are incredibly proud of our students' progress thus far, adjusting to our safety protocols and staying connected with us via Zoom/Canvas. As colder weather creeps in, it is important to continue to follow the guidelines before, during, and after school to keep us all safe. Parents, please continue to monitor your students and report any possible close contacts or positive cases to us immediately. Please also exercise caution if you suspect that you may be ill. Staying at home may help prevent the spread of the flu and help flatten the curve with COVID-19. If you are not feeling well, we encourage all to err on the side of caution when deciding to attend school. Students can always make up for the lost time by working from home.
We know that by working as a T.E.A.M. (Together, Everyone, Accomplishes, More), we can best prepare for our next challenge. Communication is key to our collective success, and with this in mind, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school for assistance. We have resources available and ready for those in need. As always, stay safe and stay connected!
Sincerely,
Hezekiah Massey, III
Principal
