Makerspace News
Thank you to everyone who has donated supplies for use in the Makerspace. Currently we are in need of straws, pipe cleaners, foil, masking tape and 2 regular sized glue guns and glue sticks for them. You may drop off the items in the office or send them with your student. Please mark your donation "Makerspace Supplies".
Looking for Library Volunteers
Please consider volunteering in the library for second semester. Help is needed on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week from 9:00 to 10:00. Your tasks would be checking in and shelving the books returned for the day and helping children exchange their books for new ones. If you are interested and want more information, please call or send an email to Kelly Pidcock at kpidcock@hse.k12.in.us.
Global Studies Update (Spanish)
Dear Parents,
We have been having a great time in Spanish class! Through whole group and small group activities, songs, projects, movement, rhythm, and art, we have covered a lot of ground in a short period of time! Students have learned how to ask and respond to the questions, “What is your name?” and “How are you?” They have learned various greetings and expressions including hello, good-bye, good morning, good afternoon, good night, and thank you. They have worked on numbers 1-10 (both sequentially and non-sequentially). They have learned that there are twenty-one countries in our world where the main language is Spanish; and they have discovered some fascinating facts about Mexico and the Mexican culture. It has been exciting to see the students proudly using Spanish in the school environment! Click here for the list of some of the vocabulary that we have been covering in class, so you can continue using the language at home if you would like.
Sincerely,
Stacey Zimmerman
