7th Grade WinterFest
There will be a 7th grade only dance/celebration on Friday, March 8th from 5:30 PM - 7PM. All 7th grade students are welcome to attend! This event is a joint venture between the OEMS Student Council and PTA. There will be pizza, bingo, movie, and dancing on the first floor of the building. Students have to enter through the pool/parking lot doors. There will be staff checking to make sure that only 7th grade students are entering (bringing a student ID doesnโt hurt, but donโt lose it!).
Families can donate gift cards ($10), bags of chips, plates & napkins, plastic store water bottles, Gatorade, and/or juice boxes for the event. Donations can be brought to Ms. Cederstrom's room 4205 OR dropped off in the main office. Please label your goods so we know they are for the 7th grade event. Thank you in advance!
Thanks, Ordean East Student Council

Please join us in continuing to reinforce these important expectations so we can protect our district's investment. Thank you so much!

Family Presentation on new MS model
Dear families,
Over the past two years we have been working in partnership with teachers and staff to create a new schedule at the middle school level that would allow us to meet state requirements around art as well as give your students more choice.
We heard during our strategic planning process that parents want their students to have relevant and engaging academic learning experiences that support multiple pathways. Our students say they want to have multiple options for courses and want to have fun and feel like they belong.
I would like to invite you to learn more about this new schedule and the new course offerings we will be able to provide to your students. A family presentation will be held at 6 p.m. on March 7 in the Ordean East Auditorium.
Please join me to learn more about the positive transformation of middle school to enhance studentsโ learning experiences and foster a more engaging academic environment.
Thank you,
Jen Larva

OEMS Staff Feature
Let's meet Connie Lovera, Attendance Secretary
Describe your role at OEMS:
To sum up my role shortly, I assist with staying organized.
I mostly track attendance, but I also organize files and ensure that there is fluid communication between parents/guardians and school staff with all attendance matters.
What do you like to do when you are not at school?
Outside of school, I enjoy video gaming, reading and spending time outdoors with loved ones when I can.
We follow BARK principles at OEMS. BARK stands for Be kind, Act responsibly, Respect others, and Keep safe. Which is your favorite BARK principle?
Out of all these principles, my favorite BARK principle is respect for others. Respect costs nothing and I was raised to treat others as you would like to be treated.
What advice do you have for middle school students to help them be awesome humans?
While I attended high school, I had this wonderful robotics teacher that taught me to be like a sponge. Be thirsty for knowledge, always ask questions and be curious. There is no such thing as a bad question as it helps us to continue growing.
Do you want to time travel to the past or to the future? When? Why?
If I could, I would travel to the future. At least 1,000 years into the future to see what kind of technology will exist around that time and if there will finally be flying cars.
