CHS Update

The Power of Now
As I've spoken to many people who are speculating about what the rest of the year holds and even engaged in some of those speculations myself, what I realized is that there is no opportunity in the speculation. The only thing that exists in the speculation is worry and anxiety. I'm used to having the answers to give to families, students, and teachers and with new information coming frequently, I've had to accept that that's just not going to happen. It's also reinforced the power of now.
I know this for sure, I'm definitely a planner -- not one of those neat, write-it-all-down in the fancy planner kind-- but the kind that always has what's coming next or the next few things rolling around in my head. When you're not sure about what changes may be coming your way, those few things roll around and around if you don't focus on the now. Right now, I don't have all of the answers for events and typical occurrences after 4/13, but what I know more than ever is that the CHS staff and I are committed to supporting our students with whatever needs arise as we embrace current and new information. What I also know is that I have the privilege of working with some of the kindest and most resilient students I've ever met, and knowing those two things in the now, THAT is all that I need.
Be kind, be safe, and be well!
Information You NEED this Week!
A Reminder on Instructional Resources
Food Service Information
Food distribution will continue to take place from 1:00-3:00 in the Carlson/Shumate bus loop on Tuesdays and Fridays. This is to ensure we are maintaining safety and social distancing protocols from the state and federal government. This breakfast and lunch service is available to ALL Gibraltar students. If you are taking part, we would love to wave hi to you in our drive-thru pickup, but definitely want you to the stay in your car.

Scheduling
Scheduling will officially start tomorrow 3/23/2020 and go until 4/1/2020. I'm putting a video from our counselors below this to help our students with online scheduling. Our 10th and 11th grade students used online scheduling last year and the process is the exact same. Please don't hesitate to reach out to counselors with any questions.

We are excited to be offering Cybersecurity for our students as a CTE program. Students who participate in this program will leave with certificates allowing them entry-level jobs in the industry as well as a huge start in attaining an Associates or Bachelors degree in the Cybersecurity field.
