February 11th-15th
Ring Leader Tidbits
~ Thank you to everyone who helped out last week at Family Math/Science Night. We had a great turnout, despite the cold weather! We were able to sell quite a few extra In-n-Out tickets the night of the event, as well, so Elk Junior Council had a successful night too!
~ This Thursday, we will be on Clubs schedule. Not only will we have the Valentine parties at 1:50, we have decided to have an assembly beginning at 1:15. The assembly is called "Matters of the Heart." Kathleen will be emailing to ask for some volunteers, and it should be a fun time, leading up to the parties beginning at 1:50.
~ This is the time of year when stress is high. Testing season has arrived, sickness has taken over, subs are lacking, and spring fever has begun. Please remember to always speak to a child the way you would want someone speaking to your own personal child. If you're feeling frustrated, need a break, etc., please take some time to regain your composure. Revisit our collective commitments (attached to this email) that we all commit to EACH day. I know some days are taxing, but we are just in February. Please reflect on your personal teaching practices and conversations you have with children.
School Bulletin
~ I will be placing ballots in your boxes for you to vote on the Professional, Para, and Auxiliary of the year. Those of you who were nominated for Teacher of the Year, I will give you the application form to fill out. It has changed a little from years past, but I will make sure everything is explained thoroughly to each of you. Thank you to everyone who turned in nomination forms. I really appreciate you taking the time to recognize some deserving candidates.
~ TELPAS testing is upon us. Here are a few dates to remember:
February 12th: Calibration @ 3:00 in computer lab. Bring your rubrics
February 13th: Make up calibration
February 22nd: Collection 1
March 1st: Collection 2
March 8th: Collection 3 & 4
March 22nd: Collection 5
March 25-26: Meet with your team and rate your grade level
March 27th: Meet with Kori and Kathleen during conference to verify ratings
~ For Open House this year, we will go along with our theme of "Greatest School on Earth." Please elicit help from parents, volunteers, etc, for decorating, if you're wanting things done for doors, hallways, etc. Kathleen has a list of parents to gave their names at the beginning of the year, and this is definitely something they can be used for!
~ Just a reminder, please make sure you are contacting parents when students are out more than 2 days. You need to establish contact on day 2, unless you have already heard from the parent. Remember, Christine should not be the first point of contact, unless the parent has called up here letting her know. You can check with Christine to see if they have called, and if they haven't, the teacher needs to reach out. Thanks for your cooperation!
