Do Days
March Lifeline: Perseverance
"I persist toward my goals despite obstacles, discouragements, or disappointments."
Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying,
sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.

Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after the other.

Dear Boone Meadow Families -
A heartfelt thank you extends to all the students and staff who participated in ZCS's Do Days this week. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve and the commitment to care for our community in various capacities. From supporting the Humane Society to writing letters to Veterans and serving at the Isaiah House, our community truly embodies the spirit of kindness and generosity that we strive for at our school. In addition, a successful “Hat Day Dollar Drive” garnered about $450 for Special Olympics/Unified Champions. We are grateful for your participation.
In addition, a special shoutout goes to our phenomenal first-grade students and Mr. Doublestein who dazzled families with their enchanting "Music is Reading" program on Thursday evening. It was a beautiful showcase of creativity, highlighting the importance of the arts in our curriculum and the talents of our students.
As we look ahead, mark your calendars for these upcoming events:
- International Fair: Save the date for March 19th and join us for a vibrant celebration of our diverse community at the International Fair. Get ready for an evening filled with cultural exploration and live performances, including the infectious rhythms of a mariachi band!

Perseverance
Perseverance is sticking with things. It means being hardworking and finishing what is started, despite barriers and obstacles that arise. The pleasure received from completing tasks and projects is very important to those who are high in perseverance. Sometimes he or she must dig deep and muster the will to overcome thoughts of giving up. Perseverance involves organizing oneself to support activities (e.g., scheduling breaks and sticking to them, rewarding in small ways along the way), but when all else fails, this strength helps the person to barrel through until the project is done. This helps build further confidence for future successes and goal accomplishment. Perseverance involves the voluntary continuation of a goal-directed action despite the presence of challenges, difficulties, and discouragement. There are two vectors of perseverance. It requires both effort for a task and duration to keep the task up.
Lifelines 2023-2024
What is BRAVERY?
- Being brave means confronting challenges, threats, or hardships. It means cherishing a goal or belief and taking action on it, regardless of its popularity. A key aspect is confronting fears instead of evading them.
Three forms of bravery exist, and an individual may exhibit one or a blend of these:
- Physical bravery (e.g., demonstrated by firefighters, police officers, soldiers)
- Psychological bravery (e.g., confronting painful aspects of one's self)
- Moral bravery (e.g., advocating for what is right, even if it goes against the prevailing opinion of a group)
