Myth
One day, Jim White was in his log cabin. He was a chemist that loved to make a mess. He was one of the men that discovered chemicals. Back in the days of 1889, people didn’t really know about chemicals. His most important project was to make a living chemical. He was almost done mixing all of his chemicals when his grandfather clock struck 12:00 pm. He said, “What a day. I’ll go to sleep and finish this in the morning.” That night, there was a terrible thunder storm. The thunderstorm picked up the roof to his science lab, and he slept through it. Thunder struck his experiment. His experiment started foaming. It started getting bigger, and bigger, then boom! The test tube shattered. Jim woke with the noise. “What was that?” he thought. He walked into the lab. Everything was dripping wet. He looked over at the test tube and it was all broken. There was no chemical left inside. Then he saw his front door was wide open. He stepped outside, and saw a trail of slime going toward Carlsbad Mountains. As he left, he picked up his archery set. What he saw by the mountain was jaw dropping. It was the color of his experiment, big and huge. It was a glob with eyes, a nose, and a mouth. As the glob saw Jim, it started to squeal. It was so loud that he wanted to go back to his cabin and cover his ears with his pillow. He took his bow and an arrow and let that arrow fly. As it hit the glob, the glob made a huge explosion causing a tremendous hole in the side of Carlsbad Mountains. It soaked inside the mountains causing deep holes and huge caverns. It was so colorful and very detailed. That is how the caverns originated.
