Job Fair and Career Expo
On Thursday, April 25 Daniel High will host our annual Job Fair and Career Expo. This will be held in the main gym from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. This event is designed for our students to:
- Explore future career options available in our area
- Network with professionals and start to build relationships with potential future employers
- Apply for full-time, part-time, and/or summer employment

We encourage all students to prepare a resumé and bring several copies to the event.
In the weeks leading up, guidance staff will offer sessions during Lion Time to assist students in creating/refining their resumés, as well as tutorials on interview skills.

April Spotlight
"Daniel High’s Foundation supports our students each year by purchasing consumable products for Anatomy & Physiology. As you can imagine, the dissection specimens (fetal pigs, hearts, eyes) are recurring costs and very expensive. The Foundation’s generosity allows the science department's budget to be evenly distributed between our ten science teachers." -Chuck Conrad
Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week
Please help the Daniel Foundation celebrate Daniel's faculty and staff May 6-10. Each day will be filled with fun, food, and gifts! We cannot do this without you, so spread the word and sign up to help! The Foundation welcomes monetary donations to help with purchasing daily treats and catered food. Call or text Christina Davis with any questions (864-376-6433). Thank you so much!!
Student Council

Recycling Markers
The RiSE Environmental Club is collecting used dry-erase markers, highlighters, markers, etc. (no pens) to recycle. If you would like to drop off old markers to keep these items out of the landfill and help the environment, bring them to Ms. Tidwell’s room (339) to be recycled at the end of the year. Thank you to our teachers collecting their markers; every contribution matters! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our RiSE officers (Hallie Ray, Henna Sekhon, Samprokshana Karthikeyan, Savannah Cato, Trevon Pyles) or Ms. Tidwell. Thank you for supporting our efforts!
Chorus
Choral Performance Assessment
At this year's SC High School Choral Performance Assessment, the Daniel Choir brought home a Superior with Distinction (perfect score) for the full concert choir and a Superior (18/20 score) for Leo Voces! Congratulations!
In NYC
Twenty-five members of the Daniel Concert Choir traveled to New York City in March to participate in the National Top Choirs event. They performed in an adjudicated event at Queens College and received a Superior, the highest rating for the event. They also performed at the Lincoln Center and had their own spotlight performance in the program. It was a very successful and amazing experience for our growing choral program!
All State
Four Daniel students--Roya Dongell, Jamie Turner, Jay Owens, and Emma MacRae--were selected to attend the 2024 SC All State Chorus at Winthrop University at the beginning of March. These students were selected by audition and worked with clinicians all weekend to perform in a concluding concert on March 2.

Science National Honor Society
On March 6 SNHS hosted guest speaker Ms. Kimberly Mudar from the General Electric Vernova division. Ms. Mudar spoke to students at SNHS about career fields in engineering and her job as an Integrated Quality Leader for the gas turbine division of General Electric. Throughout her career, she has had to adapt to solve new problems in the packaging, automotive, and energy sectors. She discussed how she has used her material science and mechanical engineering degrees to help develop new seals that could be better used to store food products and reduce food waste. She also discussed her work on automotive tires and wind turbines to improve their longevity. Ms. Mudar spoke of her career path in engineering, the different positions she has had, and the experience she has gained by adapting to new roles in engineering. She gave valuable advice to students looking to pursue an engineering career and helped show the opportunities that the field holds.
Rising senior SNHS members interested in serving as officers next year must submit their applications by Monday, April 8. A link to the application can be found in the SNHS Schoology group.
The last SNHS meeting of the school year will be held on Wednesday, April 17. Students must have all club requirements met by Friday, April 19.
Please see Ms. Tidwell if you have any questions.

Gardening Club
When the DHS Gardening Club graciously offered their extra tomato and pepper plants to our faculty and staff as we headed out for Spring Break, the plants were claimed within minutes.
This semester during Lion Time, members, led by Dawson Crum, met and learned how to start and care for vegetables from seed. They grew Supersweet 100 tomatoes, Big Boy tomatoes, Jalapeño Early, and California Wonder Green Bell.
