It's FAFSA Time!
Seniors, the FAFSA opened on October 1st. You and your parents can now complete the 2021-22 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is the application for federal, state, and college-based financial aid.
Follow these tips to prepare:
- Create a Federal Student Aid Account for you and one for a parent at studentaid.gov.
- Review the FAFSA Checklist at EducationQuest.org for items you’ll need to complete the FAFSA.
- See FAFSA Tools at EducationQuest.org for helpful resources.

Seniors:
___ Create a Federal Student Aid Account at studentaid.gov for you and one for a parent.
___ Complete the FAFSA after October 1.
___ Complete college applications. Participate in the Apply2College Event!
___ Continue exploring and applying for scholarships!
___ Register by November 5th for the December 11th ACT.
College Week & Apply2College Day
- Monday: Future so Bright! Wear your favorite pair of sunglasses to school.
- Tuesday: College Bingo. Students can win prizes for learning about college!
- Wednesday: College T-shirt day. Students wear a t-shirt that represents a college.
- Thursday: Hats off to College. Wear your favorite hat!
- Friday: Apply2College Day. Seniors will be working on college applications during 2nd and 3rd periods.

EducationQuest Virtual College Fair
- $500 Scholarships! Following each Virtual College Fair, a $500 scholarship will be awarded to an eligible attendee who has visited a minimum of five college booths. Attendees who meet the requirements are automatically registered for the drawing. Click here for details.
- Registration. Students, family members, and counselors must register in advance at eqf.org/collegefair.
- College Booths. Students can visit college booths any time through Dec. 8. Here is a list of participating colleges. A search function will allow students to find colleges they want to visit. After clicking on the booth, students can view informational videos and communicate with college reps via group video chat or 1:1 chat.
- College-Prep Sessions. A live session will be held during each event. The sessions will be recorded and available for viewing on our YouTube channel through Dec. 8. A button on the fair homepage will direct participants to the recorded sessions.

The award amount varies based on the school in which you enroll. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see award amounts at various schools: Award Amounts
The application opens November 1st and closes February 1st at 5:00pm.
Elk's Most Valuable Student Scholarship
The application closes November, 15th at 11:59 pm.
Where can I find more information on scholarships?
There are several places that students can check for scholarships.
1. Check the website schools you are applying to. All colleges have a scholarship application that can be filled out after applying. Be on the look out for some scholarships that may require a separate application or essay.
2. Check the Scholarship List. Mrs. Reese updates the scholarship list as new scholarships are announced.
3. Use online sources. The following websites are useful when searching for scholarships.
