What is this meeting all about?
TEA Visit
If that doesn't catch your attention, nothing will. We believe that TEA will visit Kaufman Independent School District during the week of February 5-9th. We will receive our official letter in December that will give us more information. We need all teachers at the faculty meeting on Thursday to discuss what this means for our district and our campus. If you can't make the meeting, it needs to be for emergency type situations only.
We've been staged in our bilingual/esl and special education student performance on testing. In those two areas, we are in the lowest 10% of the schools in Texas. TEA sent notification that 90% of the schools were either a 0, or staged a 1 or 2. Ten percent of the state were staged with a 3 or 4, with the 4's falling into the lowest 4% of the state. We fall into that category with 3's and 4's. We will talk more about this and what it means for us.
The upside:
* We will be trying new techniques and strategies that will grow us professionally.
* We will be more effective with our students that struggle most.
* We will be more conscientious of implementing different learning styles which benefits everyone.
We're not where we want to be, but we will get there. It's going to take all of us and there really aren't any excuses that justify being in the bottom 10%, much less the bottom 4%. Trust me, I can rattle excuses off with the best of them. But we just don't have time for that.
See you tomorrow!
