Weekly News Highlighting Our Students & Staff
As we are beginning to see COVID-19 cases within our schools, we are doing everything we can to keep our students and staff safe and our buildings open.
The cases we are seeing so far are community spread (the transmission is occurring outside of school) causing additional quarantine situations. We would like to ask our staff, students and families to be mindful of your exposure outside of school.
If someone within your household has a pending test, please keep your student home until you receive results. If the test is positive, your student will be placed on quarantine and our teachers will work with your student regarding coursework. Please notify the school anytime your student is absent.
Our current procedures regarding COVID-19 cases and quarantine situations are based on CDC quarantine guidelines. Please review this information as it explains the quarantine period when an individual or someone within the household has tested positive. We are working with the Christian County Health Department and assisting with contact tracing for students.
If a student tests positive for COVID-19, they will be out of school for 10 days from the test date or the onset of symptoms. This time frame is based on the contagion period.
If a student has had a high risk exposure (less than 6 ft for longer than 15 minutes), they will be out of school for 14 days.
The reason this time frame is longer is because it includes both the incubation and the contagion period.
If a student has a family member in the same house who has tested positive, they will be out of school for at least 24 days.
The reason this time frame is longer is because it includes potential exposure (10 days) plus the incubation and contagion period (14 days).

How are we handling positive cases?
No School on Election Day
School will be in session Monday, Nov. 2. There will be no school Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Due to many of our buildings being used as polling locations for the presidential election, the Board of Education voted Thursday night to move the Nov. 2 deep cleaning day to Nov. 3. This is because the county will need to use additional areas of the buildings in order to comply with the required social distancing regulations.
All school buildings will be deep cleaned on Nov. 3. Areas of the polling locations not being used during the election will be deep cleaned during the day. Once polls close, crews will deep clean the areas that were used for the election.

Trading Masks for Math

Pay increases for Substitutes
- Work 25 days - $105 per day
- Work 50 days - $110 per day
- Work 75 days - $115 per day
Due to how payroll works, the rate increase becomes effective on the first day of the month following the month the tier was reached. For example, if you subbed for the 26th time on Nov. 14, your pay would continue at $100 through the month of November. Starting Dec. 1, your pay will increase to $105 per day.
Ozark retirees receive $115 per day no matter how many days worked.
