UPCOMING OHIO’S STATE TESTING
Show What You Know!
It’s time for Freddies to show what we know! Ohio State Testing will be occurring in April and May 2024. This is for students in 3rd through 8th grades. Testing for English Language Arts (reading) will be held on April 17th and 18th with mathematics testing on April 30th and May 1st. As always, we need your support to help make your students successful. First, assure your students that they have all the knowledge and skills they need to be successful. Take the test seriously, but don’t become stressed by it. Make sure your child is physically and mentally prepared to do their best by being well-rested and by eating a healthy breakfast to fuel the brain. Lastly, please make every effort to have your student at school on these testing days ready to do their best.
Thanks for your help in supporting our students.

This event has been rescheduled to April 9, 2024. It will be held in the elementary commons. I have included an updated letter in the picture.
In accordance with new state requirements, students in grades K-6 will be receiving developmentally appropriate prevention education aimed at preventing child sexual abuse. For more information, including how you can review the curriculum, please see the attached letter. Paper copies of this letter will also be sent home with your student.
Mrs. Brake's 5th Grade Students Mentor Others
Mrs.Brake’s homeroom went down to the commons. We listened to Mrs. Bender’s first-grade class. They did a lot of research on the Arctic and made a book about the Arctic. It was super fun listening to them tell us about the Arctic. When we were done, we talked about their favorite part and got to tell them they did a good job.

Mohican Outdoor Camp
Our 5th grade students recently attended Mohican Outdoor Camp and had an outstanding time. While we provide excellent learning opportunities in the classroom at Fredericktown Elementary School, I marvel at the learning that takes place in this setting. Our students had the opportunity to experience a variety of outdoor activities that not only helped them grow in knowledge, but they were able to grow socially while gaining fortitude. I would like to extend a special thanks to the 5th grade teachers who organized, supervised and coordinated the trip and Fredericktown Elementary PTO, FLS Board of Education and parents who supported the program and the staff at Mohican who helped create memories for our students.
Crunch Out Knox County
Please help me celebrate the accomplishments of two of our 4th grade students. Our 4th graders participated in "Crunch Out Knox County" essay contest. Crunch Out Knox County teaches our students the importance of making healthy food choices and getting physically active on a daily bases. Lily Perrine was the first runner up and Lauren Teets was selected as the winner at Fredericktown Elementary School. Congratulations!
Safety and Security
I would like to bring to your attention that we have a new measure in place at FES. You will need to be buzzed into the building through the main doors. Please make sure you push the button on the pillar outside the main entrance doorway. You will be "buzzed" in from there after indicating the nature of your visit. These doors will be locked until 8:30 a.m. Please keep in mind if you have been accustomed to dropping your child off before 8:30 a.m. You should make arrangements to drop them off close to 8:30 a.m. After 8:45 a.m., you will need to bring your child in and sign them in as tardy.
Thank you
