SENIOR INFO
PROM INFORMATION
The Maryville High School Junior/Senior prom will be on April 19th from 7:00pm-11:00pm at the Airport Hilton. Attached to this email you will find two very important documents about the dance. The “Prom Information” page outlines all rules and regulations for the dance. The “MySchoolDance Buying guide” has specific instructions on how students can purchase tickets online. Both documents are below. Please note the following –
- Starting Monday, April 15th ticket prices will be $55. Ticket sales will end on Wednesday, April 17th at 3:30pm.
- The Dance will be held at the Airport Hilton from 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm on Friday, April 19th. No one will be admitted AFTER 9pm.
- You must be present at school on Friday, April 19th to attend.
- Once you have been admitted to the dance, you may not leave and re-enter.
- You must have either a printed or digital copy of your ticket from www.myschooldance.com to enter the dance.
- All 11th and 12th graders at MHS are welcome and may bring one guest. MHS Administration must approve guests. Ninth graders may attend as a guest of a current MHS student. No eighth graders or younger will be permitted to attend, nor will anyone 21 years of age or older.
- The guest form must be completed online when purchasing tickets. Please note, if your guest attends another school:
- You will purchase their ticket when you purchase yours, but you must have an email address to put into www.myschooldance.com for your guest. If your guest is not an MHS student, it is better to use their private email (not school) because some school emails will not accept outside correspondence.
- Both you and your guest will have to electronically sign agreements in order to download your ticket.
- Outside guests will HAVE to enter one of their administrator’s email addresses. If your guest does not attend school, amanda.russell@maryville-schools.org can be entered so she can approve your guest. If your guest has NOT BEEN APPROVED, they will not be allowed in the dance and your tickets will be refunded. Note: Your guest will be the one to enter their admin’s email address once they create a login to MySchoolDance. You will NOT enter this when you first purchase tickets.
- If bringing a guest not from MHS, you must arrive with that guest.
- A buffet dinner will be provided from 7-9:00pm
- This is a school sponsored event, thus all MHS rules must be followed. This includes appropriate dress.
If you have any questions, email Jessica Janson at jessica.janson@maryville-schools.org.

Be Pro.Be Proud
Last Tuesday and Wednesday the Be Pro Be Proud Truck visited our school. Students at both MHS and MJHS had the opportunity to see some of the career options available, learn the qualifications, and even understand more about the profession through virtual reality and simulator activities. Thanks to this organization for giving their time to our community. For more information about this organization, and possible careers, see the website below.
Sports Physicals
Attention! Parents of High School Athletes!
Student-athletes must have medical clearance annually after April 15 in order to play school sports the following school year. Fortunately, Blount Memorial Hospital has you covered. Free physicals are offered on Saturday April 27 for all area high school athletes. This physical is good for the entire 2024-2025 school year. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to check off this yearly requirement and see the flyer below for details on how to sign up.

Attention current senior parents and seniors: Tennessee School of Beauty is offering $2,500 for students who are planning to enroll within the next year (by May 2025). Students enrolling at TSB should see their school counselor to apply for this opportunity.
Senator Bill Hagerty’s office is excited to come to East Tennessee to meet college counselors and students interested in attending a United States Service Academy! Congressional nominations are a requirement for admission to West Point, the US Naval Academy, the US Merchant Marine Academy, and the US Air Force Academy. Students and families interested in learning more about the nomination process can join Senator Hagerty and his team on Tuesday, April 23rd at Knoxville Catholic High School (9245 Fox Lonas Rd., Knoxville, TN 37923) at 6:30pm. If you have any questions, feel free to respond to contact Mrs. Elroy from Senator Hagerty's office at (615) 552-8017.
The Ride and Decide program aims to pair high school students with trade industry contractors for summer employment, providing them with hands-on experience while assisting in paid work functions. Its mission includes encouraging students to consider trade careers post-graduation, educating them and their parents about the benefits of working in the industry, and establishing a dedicated group to ensure the program's success and longevity. This program will take place in June and July of the summer. Eligible students must be at least 16 years old, have completed their sophomore year of high school, maintain a C average with excellent attendance, have reliable transportation, be recommended by an educator or administrator, obtain parental permission, and adhere strictly to attendance and employment regulations. If you or your student are interested in learning more about this program, please email Wes Lambert at wes.lambert@maryville-schools.org.
As of the end of March, the US Department of Education (ED) has processed 4.3 million of the roughly 6 million FAFSAs submitted nationwide. Some students may now be able to review their FAFSA Submission Summary which will outline any issues/next steps by returning to their FAFSA tracker (see attached). The US Department of Education (ED) announced students/parents will be able to make corrections (e.g. missing signatures, add colleges, etc.) by the first half of April. ED indicates they will email students when corrections can begin.
Tennessee Tech’s College of Engineering would like to extend an invitation to rising 10th, 11th and 12th grade students for the 2024 Explorations in Engineering and Computing Summer Camp. This is a 3-day summer camp to learn about engineering, computing, and engineering technology. During this camp, students will get to experience and take part in hands-on projects related to the top engineering and computing fields, taught by our engaging faculty members. Students will work directly with industry leaders, tour and experiment in state-of-the-art laboratories, and experience all college life has to offer. During this program, students will be mentored by current Tennessee Tech students and learn what it means to be an engineering student. Students may choose to attend the camp either June 23-26 or July 14-17 (students may not attend both camps). For further information and to apply for EEC, please see here. Please email engineeringssc@tntech.edu if you have any questions.

Student Check Out Procedures
Check-outs should be held to a minimum and are limited to the following:
Emergency - Decision to be made by the principal or assistant principals.
Prior arrangement - If a written request is received by officials in the student services office prior to the beginning of the school day, the student will be dismissed at the requested time. The checkout note must include the student’s full name, date, time of dismissal, phone number where parent/guardian can be reached for verification, and signature of the parent/guardian.
- The parent/guardian comes to the main entrance office to sign the student out.
Students who become sick during the school day must report to the assistant principal’s office/school nurse before they call home. The assistant principal’s office will assist the student and permit the student to call home. The student will remain in the assistant principal’s office or with the school nurse until he/she receives permission to go home or until he/she is picked up by a parent/guardian.
Students are allowed to check out during third block only for medical or legal purposes, and proper documentation must be provided. Students are not allowed to check out to retrieve items needed for school. Leaving school without permission will result in disciplinary action.
Students checking out of school on an altered schedule day will receive an unexcused absence unless the school is provided the appropriate legal or medical documentation.
