"Nations, like stars, are entitled to eclipse. All is well, provided the light returns and the eclipse does not become endless night. Dawn and resurrection are synonymous. The reappearance of the light is the same as the survival of the soul". - Victor Hugo
For a Smile
A: A light snack.
Q; What is the moons favorite snack during an eclipse?
A: Sun chips.
Q: Why did the teacher bring solar eclipse glasses to school?
A: Because the teacher had bright students.
Did you know?
In ancient Greece, a solar eclipse was seen as a sign that the gods were angry and was thought to be an omen of bad things to come.
According to the Batammaliba people from Benin and Togo in West Africa, during an eclipse the Sun and Moon are fighting. The only way to stop the conflict, they believe, is for people on Earth to settle their differences.
When to be outside on Monday!
Times accurate within a few seconds.
NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN!
12:18 p.m. Partial eclipse begins
The moment the edge of the Moon touches the edge of the Sun is called first contact.
1:36 p.m. Totality begins
The moment the edge of the Moon covers all of the Sun is called second contact.
1:38 p.m. Maximum eclipse
The deepest point of the eclipse, with the Sun at its most hidden.
1:39 Totality ends
The moment the edge of the Moon exposes the Sun is called third contact.
2:59 Partial eclipse ends
The moment the edge of the Moon leaves the edge of the Sun is called fourth contact.
Did you turn in your waiver Friday so you may view the eclipse outside?
Students will have glasses supplied by the city.
4th grade-12th grade will view the eclipse from the football field.
There is potential for rain.
We will have extensive security measures in place during this unique event.

Technology Awareness
Technology is a wonderful gift for student growth. Replacement/repair of abused items takes away from learning, instruction, and others.
For Awareness:
Usual culprits & possible solutions:
*Playing around: socializing is great, however please be mindful of the area around you. Bumping, pushing, and falling are not good for students or Chromebooks.
*Stepping on devices in cafeteria, classroom, bleachers, band, locker rooms and bus: If possible, don't put them on the ground. If not, place them close to you and out of the path of others. Be mindful of items on the floor, desks, and seats.
*Holding devices by the screen will cause screen damage. Never pick up and hold the Chromebook by the screen.
*Forgetting to bring devices to school: Establish a routine and place the Chromebook, calculator, and borrowed school items in the same safe place when done with it for the day.
Students need to bring their Chromebook and calculator to school every day!
