Doc Rock Visit
We were so lucky to have a fabulous visit from Doc Rock and to eat a picnic lunch with our Stoy Pen Pals! What a wonderful day! Students enjoyed a relaxing picnic lunch and a fun playground recess before the assembly. Doc Rock shared valuable specimens, told lively stories of his adventures and identified specimens for students. He also answered many thoughtful questions. Students got a hands on lesson literally touching a dinosaur egg, a meteorite sample and many other amazing rocks! Each child took home a gift from Doc Rock; a new rock or mineral for their collection!
Mr. Ray Assembly
The PTA sponsored a concert on Friday! We sang and danced with Mr. Ray. His music was full of positive messages about school, friendship and creativity. It was a blast!

Literacy
This is the final week for our unit on changes. We have read many interesting selections and talked about how they relate to the Big Idea, “Living things change over time.” The living things in question this week are plants. We are going to explore the question, “What steps would you take to plant a garden?” In the fantasy story, How Groundhog’s Garden Grew,” we will find out how Squirrel helps Groundhog with his vegetable garden. In the informational text Super Soil, we’ll learn how soil helps plants grow.

We will learn to name sources of information; people, places and artifacts and obtain information about a topic using a variety of sources. We will create visual time line of a week & add events of the week to demonstrate how it is created and read. Then we will learn that HISTORY is a story of the past. Historians (people who study history) look at things from long ago to learn how people lived. They also talk to people, read, and visit places. We will trace the history of Fort Myers, Florida.
