February 2023
❤️We Love to Read!❤️
February is finally here. January took off like a rocket. We remembered Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and students shared what they learned about him and his legacy. During this month, we celebrate Black History Month and Valentine's Day. It is a month filled with love and rememberance. So, let us show love for black history. We can do this by recognizing the contributions that black people have made in our country. G.P.A. will have a number of activities at the school to celebrate Black History. We will have a door decorating contest and a prize will be offered for the best doors! Also, students will learn more about Black History facts on, "What's Up Wednesdays?!" Get ready for the celebration!

🤔 Did You Know? 🤔
- February 1, 1960 - In Greensboro, North Carolina, four African American students sat down and ordered coffee at a lunch counter inside a Woolworth's store. Although they were refused service, they chose not to leave. They stayed and waited to be served. They did this over and over again for a few days. This caused other states in the south to do the same. Over 1600 people were arrested for participating in the sit-ins.

February 11th
National Inventors' Day is celebrated to highlight inventors and inventions that have changed society. The cell phones, videogames, and computers we use would not exist without innovation and inventors. You too can be an inventor. First, start off with a problem and then think of ways you may solve it. What tools will you use and what former research will help you? These are some things to think about. Check out some famous African-American Inventors that you may or may not know.
