Dear Parents,
Here's what's happening at school this week.
School Spelling Bee
English
We will begin choosing topics for argument essays this week. We will also continue our study of Greek and Latin root words. The NWEA reading test will be this week.
Math
Students started Chapter 5 (Percents) and learned how to model percents. They also worked on changing percents into fractions or mixed numbers, and decimals. Aside from the Chapter 5 classwork, students practiced finding measures of central tendency (Mean, Median, Mode). There are two homework assignments due on Monday: page 273 (2-8)/page 274(1-6) and page 279(2-14)/page 280(1-6). They had an in-class “packet” with a variety of questions that won’t be due at this time.
This week, students will continue with Chapter 5 (Percents) and learn how to write a fraction or decimal as a percent. They will also learn how to find the percent of a number. Students will also be taking the NWEA Winter test for math.
