Principal's Message
Flu season is upon us. I think this a good time to remind families of guidelines for keeping all staff and students healthy. Below are the suggestions from Nurse Shaw and Nurse Braun.

Sick Day Guidelines:
Making the Right Call When Your Child Is Sick
Should I keep my child home or send him/her to school?
School protocol requires a child to stay home if he or she:
· Has a fever of 100 degrees or higher
· Has been vomiting or has diarrhea
· Has symptoms that keep your child from participating in school, such as:
1. Very tired or lack of appetite
2. Cough that he or she cannot control, sneezing often
3. Headache, body aches or earache
4. Sore throat- a little sore throat is ok for school, but a bad sore throat could be Strep Throat even without a fever. Other signs of strep throat in children can include headache, stomachache or rash. Call your doctor for testing if your child is exhibiting these symptoms.
· Keep your child home if he/she is coughing or sneezing often because this spreads sickness to others.
24 Hour Rule:
· Fever: Keep your child home until his or her fever has been GONE WITHOUT MEDICINE for 24 hrs. Returning to school too soon may slow recovery and make others sick.
· Vomiting Or Diarrhea: Keep child home for 24 hrs after the LAST time he or she had vomiting or diarrhea.
· Antibiotics: Keep your child home until 24 hrs after the FIRST dose of antibiotics for strep throat, pink eye or ear infections.
We often have many children and adults with colds coming to school, and each one is passing their germs to others. Please help us keep our school family healthy by keeping your child home when sick.
Hand washing remains he number one deterrent in preventing the spread of germs!
