Williams Parent Bulletin
March 2024
Spring is coming soon!
Happy spring, everyone! Even though spring will be here soon, it looks like we still have more cold weather ahead of us. We'd like to ask families to PLEASE label their children's jackets, sweaters, lunch bags/boxes and water bottles with their names. Please be advised that all Lost & Found items will be donated to community agencies over spring break. If you're looking for a lost item, please come to the school to take a look. All unclaimed jackets and sweaters will be donated during the first week of April.
We are going to pack a lot into the month of March! Get ready for the many opportunities you will have to support your Wildcats. Here are just a few events: Spring Picture Day, T2 Family Picnic, Trimester Day, music assemblies, PTA Movie Night, Read Across America Week, Battle of the Books, Scholastic Book Fair, and Open House. After all that fun, we will be taking a very well deserved Spring Break. Williams School will be CLOSED from April 1-12.
Don't forget to move your clocks ahead an hour on March 10th and then welcome the spring season on March 19th. Thank you for supporting our Wildcats in all of their activities and events. We appreciate you partnering with us to provide our students with engaging learning environments and safe routes to and from school every day.

ATTENDANCE WINNERS!
This year, Williams has made it a goal to improve our attendance to a 95% average. It is going to take an effort by all grade levels to make this happen. We have a schoolwide competition going on for best attendance. Grade level team winners have been rewarded with special treats and principal's recess opportunities. We will now be adding grade level trophies that will go to the classroom with the best attendance at each grade level. We are proud to announce that the schoolwide attendance winner for February 2024 was the 5th grade team!
- February: 5th Grade
- January: 5th Grade
- December: Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
- November: 5th Grade
- October: 4th Grade
- September: 5th Grade
CHARACTER COUNTS - TRUSTWORTHINESS
During the month of March, we'll be celebrating the character trait of "trustworthiness." Please feel free to wear a top/shirt of any shade of BLUE on Character Counts Fridays this month.
Trustworthiness: Be honest and reliable • Be loyal to friends and family • Always do the right thing • Never lie, cheat, or steal
PARKING LOT SAFETY
School staff will follow the parking lot closure schedule below. During closure times, ONLY staff with a Williams staff permit and drivers with handicapped placards will be allowed into the parking lot. Please plan on dropping off/picking up your child at the Anchorage Street curb during busy traffic times.
- AT ARRIVAL: Pause for pedestrians from 7:45-8:00 AM (M-F)
- AT DISMISSAL: Closed from 2:15-2:40 PM (M/T/Th/F)
- EARLY DISMISSAL WEDNESDAY: Closed from 12:25-12:55 PM
It is essential that we continue having your support in order to maintain safe and orderly student drop-offs & pick-ups. We call on our Williams community to help us avoid the following unsafe driving behaviors. PLEASE DO NOT:
- Drop-off your child in the middle of the street. Please take the time to pull over to the curb.
- Stay in your car and yell at your child to cross through lanes of traffic to get to you.
- Leave your car in the middle of the street without a driver.
- Make u-turns in front of the school during high traffic times.
- Use profanity and yell at other drivers. Our students hear and see everything we do out there.
