Way To Go Team Give - The West Side Classic Was a Huge Success
On behalf of Dr. Faust (SouthPark), Mr. Brodeur (Caruso) and myself we want to thank to everyone who supported the West Side Classic, staff charity volleyball game. This was a really fun event that raised money for a great cause. With the support of Wilmot, Caruso and South Park students, parents and staff we raised over $2,700 for the Bounce Children's Foundation, which will help transform the lives of critically ill children and their families. Our staff had a great time playing volleyball against the staff from the other schools. Congratulations to Caruso who won the tournament!
Help Us Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day
World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is a global awareness day that has been observed since 2012. The date for WDSD is significant as it is celebrated on the 21st day of the 3rd month, which signifies the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome.
To celebrate what makes individuals with Down syndrome (and each of us) unique and special we are encouraging everyone to wear unique, or mismatched socks to school on Thursday, 3-21. Celebrating WDSD is one way in which we can come together as a school to support the acceptance, inclusion and understanding all children and adults in our community.
Save the Date - Parent Teacher Conferences
Mark your calendars! Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, March 21 from 1:00-4:00 pm & 5:00-8:00 pm and on Friday, March 22 from 8:30-11:30 am. All DPS109 schools will hold in-person parent-teacher conferences this year with an option to Zoom for parents/guardians who are not available for an in-person conference. Parents will sign up for a conference using Sign-Up Genius.
It is best practice to hold one parent conference per child, to ensure that both parents receive the same information regarding their child’s strengths and needs. Therefore, I ask that parents sign up for one joint conference per student. If this is a concern, please reach out to me directly. We look forward to seeing all of our parents during conferences. Conferences are a discussion between parents and teachers. At this time elementary conferences do not include students and therefore we ask that children not attend the parent-teacher conference.

Solar Eclipse Viewing Option for Students - More Information is Coming
On April 8th, 2024, parts of North America will be treated to a rare total solar eclipse. Due to Chicagoland’s proximity to the path of totality, the sun will appear 93% obscured from our vantage in Deerfield. For context, it will be 21 years until another total solar eclipse traverses the United States, which makes this year's eclipse something of a generational opportunity. The next time our students will have a chance to view such a robust solar eclipse, some of them will be doing so with their own children!
In preparation for this momentous opportunity, the district has purchased eclipse glasses for all students and staff who want to enjoy the eclipse on April 8th. It is imperative that a solar eclipse only be viewed through the provided eclipse glasses, which have been manufactured according to ISO safety standards. Sunglasses do not count. More information regarding this exciting opportunity will be shared soon.
Kindergarten Registration for 2024-2025

If you have an incoming kindergartener (or a new to Wilmot 1st-5th grader) for the 2023-2024 school year it is important that you complete the registration process as soon as possible. Please note that only those students who are fully registered will receive an invitation for our spring Kindergarten Round-Up. Please spread the word.
