8th Grade: Students will have an assessment on the causes and events of the War of 1812. We will also continue to study life in the U.S. post-War of 1812, specifically advances in transportation, industry, and technology.
MATH
6th Grade: 6th grades will have a module test on Wednesday. We have been busy finding unit rates and making predictions about unknown quantities. If you get a chance with your student, check out the unit rates for food items at grocery stores. The unit rate is printed on the price on the shelf.
7th Grade: 7th graders have been busy solving one and two step inequalities. We’ve been playing matching games and deciding if word phrases such as more than, at least, and no more than match certain inequality symbols. Expect a quiz at the end of the week.
8th Grade: 8th graders took a test on Wednesday. We’ve started to investigate systems of equations. Examples of solving systems of equations could be two friends that have different saving account balances and then saving different amounts of week. Using graphing, we can find when the two friends will have the same amount of money in the bank. Expect a quiz at the end of the week.
SCIENCE
6th Grade: Students should have gathered all their materials for their science fair project by now and hopefully are ready to proceed with their experiment. Most have already written up their research and lists of materials as well as procedure. Please ask your student where they are on their project. We are also going to be exploring different animal systems around the world.
7th Grade: Students should complete their science projects by next week so we can begin the data analysis and write-ups for the display board. Please question your student’s progress and contact me if you have any questions. We are continuing our study of cells and the different organelles found in eukaryotic cells.
