Have you heard of the Lago Vista ISD Education Foundation?
We have been around for many years and are a foundation that fundraises to give grants to educators in our district. Those grants fund equipment and supplies for students. Lago Vista ISD students are the direct beneficiaries of all of our efforts.
We are currently looking for community volunteers to help with our Souper Bowl Raffle Sales.
You can learn more about how to help and who we are on our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/LVISDEF, our website, https://www.lvisdeftx.com or by emailing lvisdeftx@gmail.com.

Girl's Basketball Plays Tough Against Jarrell
8th B against Jarrell
The Lady Vikings came up with their second win tonight. These ladies continue to grow as a team and become better basketball players. Offensive player of the game, Myah Marquez had 11 points for the game and stole the ball many times. Defensive player of the game, Eloise Rowland had 6 points, creating many turnovers against the Jarrell Cougars. Harper Phillips led her team down the court, leading her team in assists and having a couple of points herself. Sofia Garcia was tough on rebounds and took the ball away from the Cougars many times helping her team come up with points. Sofia also scored a couple points for her team. Kennedy Brown and Hannah Koenning also helped on rebounds for their team and each had a basket for the Lady Vikings. Peyton Byrd stole the ball from the Lady Cougars and came up with some big plays to help out her team. Marlow Coale and Elle Head hustled on the court and helped their team with the win against the Cougars. As always, I am proud of these girls. Come out at watch them play next week at home.
8th B against Jarell
What a wild game! Lady Vikings played their hearts out. Beat and bruised up, all of our girls left it all out on the court last night. We ended up going into overtime, had the game won up until the last 30 seconds, Jarrell Cougars made a basket and beat us by one point. It was a tough loss for sure, but nothing to not be proud of. The Lady Vikings never gave up and made some amazing team plays. Kailee Kiester was the big play maker of the night, bringing in a total of 28 points! She also stole the ball several times and created many turnovers for the Jarrell Cougars. Defensive player of the game goes to Audrey Ferguson. She battled underneath the basket against a girl twice her size and most times coming away with the ball for her team. Anya Alanis scored a few baskets adding to her team's points. She also created many turnovers that led the Vikings up against the Cougars. Melissa Soto and Laila Burlew hustled and played hard helping their team make plays. Ayleen Hernandez got a big basket late in the 4th quarter pushing her team ahead. Sadie Darling, Sabryna Holcomb, Laney Bentley, and Ke’Auvia Cox also put in hard work and great minutes on the court contributing to their teams success. I continue to be amazed by these ladies and always so proud of them. Next week we have Burnet at home, come out and watch these Lady Vikings put on a show.
8A vs JARRELL
The Lady Vikings tipped off the new year with a road trip to Jarrell to take on the Lady Cougars. The Lady Vikings came into the new year with a season record of 3 wins and 2 loses. Jarrell entered the evening undefeated on the season. The Lady Vikings played with great effort all night as they competed in a very physical ballgame. The girls kept it close through the first half with good defense leading to multiple scoring opportunities off of turnovers. In the second half the Lady Vikings weren’t able to get enough shots to fall as the Lady Cougars as they were able to pull away preserving their undefeated season record. Even in defeat the Lady Vikings showed a lot of grit, battling Jarrell’s girls that were at least a foot taller for every rebound and loose ball on the floor. Eli Helton led the Lady Vikings with 10 pts, Piper Olsen added 6pts of her own. Both Abby Tristan and Molly Roberts added 4 pts a piece to the overall total for the Lady Vikings.
Upcoming Games: The Lady Vikings will be at home, finally, for the next three weeks as they will play host to Burnet on 1/12, Lampasas on 1/19, and Marble Falls on 1/26. Make time to come out and support these young ladies on one of these nights. Members of the LVMS 8th Grade A team: Lanee Arredondo, Winter Callahan, Sophia Hankins, Eliana Helton, Sydney Mosser, Piper Olsen, Olivia Parra, Ayva Ritter, Molly Roberts, Abby Tristan, Emily Viruette
7A...Coming Soon!
Lago Sweeps Jarrell
The LVMS basketball teams resumed district play, after the break, hosting the Jarrell Cougars on Thursday, January 5, 2023. The 8th grade B team started the contest off at 5pm in the lower gym. After 3 weeks off of the court, the Vikings just could not find a rhythm on offense. The score at the half was 7-14, in favor of the Cougars. After a strong showing of the press in the 3rd quarter, the Vikings narrowed the score differential to 3 points, but never took the lead. The final score of the game was 22-36, Jarrell. The defensive player of the game was Cameron Wright with 10 steals and 3 rebounds. The offensive players of the game were Dominic Bailey and Marshall Lawless with 6 points each. This loss brings the 8th grade's season record to 2-3 and the district record to 2-3, also.
The 7th grade B team started immediately following the 8th grade game. After 3 weeks off of the court, the Vikings excelled in the press and put up multiple baskets off steals to set the first half score at 13-8, in favor of the Vikings. After a strong showing of the press, again, in the 3rd quarter, the Vikings continued to hold on to the lead. The final score of the game was 25-16, Lago Vista. The defensive player of the game was Max Gamez with 12 steals and 1 rebound. The offensive player of the game was also Max Gamez with 10 points. This win brings the 7th grade's season record to 1-4 and the district record to 1-4, also.
Last night, the 8A was a hard-fought game against Jarrell, in which the Vikings came out victorious. Leading the Vikings in scoring were Jackson Cook and Dillon Stovall. Leading the team in steals were Bobby Ruth and Archer Houston. Leading the team in rebounds were Blake Meridith and Jackson Cook. Special shout out to Stovall and Bronson Long for taking the charges in last night's game. Overall it was a great first game back from the break and a great way to lead up to this weekend's tournaments.
The 7th Grade A team got its first win Thursday night as they hosted the Jarrell Cougars. The Vikings got out to an early lead with some deep 3-pointers by Sam Kinslow, Karter Kudrna, and Cole Sisemore. Brennan Brown and Keagan Harris were DOGS on the full court press and were able to create scoring chances with their hustle. The Vikings were strong on defense with some clutch play by Macer Ballard and Evan Rehner. Lago kept up the pressure and were up by 20 at halftime. Coming out of the half, Tyler Evans and Tyler Tristan were able to get to the basket and drain a couple. In the last minute, shooting guard Tristan Humke made a mid-range bucket to seal the game. Everyone scored in our 46-20 victory over the Cougars as we prepare for a big tournament in Wimberley this weekend.
