A Message from Mrs. Caudill
I don't know about you but I am still trying to adjust to the "new normal". Instead of driving to work, I sit down at my kitchen table. I am still trying to figure out how to balance the needs of my home versus the needs of my job. I will be honest, I have not figured it out yet. However, there are two things I know for certain. I like wearing sweatpants to work everyday and I have the privilege to work alongside a great group of educators in an amazingly supportive community.
Our teachers are providing remote learning by creating engaging and purposeful online lessons that will allow students to engage with topic-related content and skills. Teachers are reaching out and are inviting students and families to respond directly in order to facilitate meaningful two-way engagement. While we realize online learning can not fully substitute the quality of a face-to-face classroom, we are prepared to provide our students with creative and unique opportunities to continue their education while schools are closed.
There will be curves and bumps in the road along the way as we travel this new territory. It will require patience and flexibility on everyone's part, as well as the understanding that it may evolve over time. We do not know when (or if) our students and teachers will be able to physically return Amerman. In the meantime, we will continue to connect virtually. I have been able to join several virtual classrooms this week, and they have brought me pure joy in this uncertain time.
Take Care and Be Well!

A Note from the NPS Support Staff
Northville Families,
The school social work/school psychology/counseling department wanted to share resources for your children and families to utilize until we resume school. Below are some tips from the CDC to keep in mind as we move forward:
Turn off the TV: Avoid excessive exposure to media coverage of COVID-19.
Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch or meditate. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep.
Make time to unwind and remind yourself that strong feelings will fade. Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories. It can be upsetting to hear about the crisis and see images repeatedly. Try to do some other activities you enjoy to return to your normal life.
Connect with others. Share your concerns and how you are feeling with a friend or family member. Maintain healthy relationships.
Maintain a sense of hope and positive thinking.
Please download the attached PDF for additional enrichment ideas and links to community resources.

Northville Civic Concern Needs Our Continued Support
Hello, Amerman Bobcat Families:
We are writing today with an urgent request. Mrs. Parnin just spoke with Marlene at Northville Civic Concern, her organization needs our help! With many children home from school and many employees off from work, the need for food and household items is growing each day. We are writing to ask each Bobcat family to evaluate their own food and household supplies and consider donating to the Northville Civic Concern. Today we are asking that our Bobcat leaders consider an optional community service project by copying and pasting the note below or writing their own version of it with their own information and sending it out to your neighbors. If you do this project, please place a LARGE PLASTIC BIN on your porch and have your child make a sign that says, “For Civic Concern.” If you do send out the note, thank you ahead of time! The community thanks you, and we know our Bobcat leaders can make a difference. Feel free to share a picture of your child collecting items with us via email.
To drop food off at Civic Concern please see the address and drop-off times below. Feel free to call the office to see if Marlene or one of her amazing volunteers will be there to accept your donation. As long as they are open you are also welcome to call, let them know you are coming and leave your donations outside their building. If you’d rather just make a monetary donation, they can be made on the Civic Concern website.

Also, families can donate while respecting social distancing by dropping off donations to Door #5 at Ward Church (6 Mile and Haggerty) any time, any day of the week. https://ward.church/springbounty/
In addition, we recognize that some Amerman families may also find themselves in need due to unexpected income loss. In addition to Northville Civic Concern, https://northvillevolunteer.wixsite.com/civicconcern/need-help, Main Street League, https://www.mainstreetleague.com/, finds creative ways to help families in need.
Please feel free to contact us directly with further questions!

My family will drop the items off at the Civic Concern office so we can help those people in need. Please click here if you’d like to learn more about Civic Concern. Thank you for your help and support!

April's Focus: Caring! Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw!
Every month Amerman Focuses on a new theme and Leader in Me Habit of the Month. The focus for the month of April is Caring and our Habit of the Month is Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw. Just because we are not at school doesn't mean we can't practice our Leader in Me Habits and our theme of the month.
Sharpen the Saw means preserving and enhancing the greatest asset you have--you. It means having a balanced program for self-renewal in the four areas of your life: physical, social/emotional, mental, and spiritual.
