Last Week Liberty Staff and Students Participated in the Hour of Code!
Computer programming is the future! Most of the jobs that today's students will hold do not even exist yet! Many of these careers will include computer programming and coding. Our students joined millions of students world wide and participated in writing billions of lines of code! The lessons we used here at Liberty were found on code.org.
Even though we did our event earlier in the week, students are still commenting to me how much fun they had and how they have been coding at home. I loved seeing them persevere and problem solve together. Coding is a great way to grow your brain!

Thank You, Liberty
It is with a very heavy heart that I am writing this newsletter. Liberty Elementary staff, students, parents and community have been so wonderful to work with these past 3 years. The relationships I have formed here with the kids and my colleagues make is so difficult to even try and type the words. With a lump in my throat and tears welling in my eyes it is time for me to begin a new chapter in my teaching career. I have accepted a Media Specialist position at Urbana Elementary School effective January 4, 2016. My husband teaches there and my children are also students there. This opportunity comes as their Media Specialist is retiring. This chance would not come again. A lot of prayer went into this decision and I am feeling led to take this next step. Please understand that I was not unhappy here at Liberty. I loved being able to grow and learn my craft as a Media Specialist in such an awesome environment! I am excited to have the opportunity to grow and learn further at UES but I will always have a special place in my heart for Liberty. Please continue to follow me on Twitter @MrsSLibrary1 and keep in touch if you can kelly.schartner@fcps.org. Thank you to all of you for your understanding and support! I wish every one of you all the best!
